A long-lived being (Holo in Ookami to Koushinryou, Frieren in Sousou no Frieren) embarks on a journey with (short-lived) humans.
What especially makes these two series similar is that they are very character-driven and atmospheric in nature. And unlike a lot of fantasy series, while there are some action scenes, those are certainly not the main draw.
Half of the enjoyment comes from the witty dialogue and banter between the main characters. The other half comes from the characters' interactions with the various villages and people that they meet on their journey, along with the palpable sense of the progression of time throughout the series
