English Dub Thread: Upcoming Dubbed Anime - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - MAL Rules: Site & Forum Guidelines
I have been an anime fan my whole life, ever since I was hit by truck-kun when I was a little boy and got transported to a fantasy world. Everybody there wore white outfits with blue gloves and experimented on me all over. They called their world a "Hospital". People sometimes ask me if anime is good. The answer is simple. As with any medium or genre of anything, there is good content and bad content. Anime has good shows and has bad shows, thought provoking ideas and also fan-service. Death Note and also Guilty Crown (just kidding...somewhat). However I always tell them to try one and decide for themselves. I have a very particular scoring method. I don't like being negative and I feel like no show that i have yet completed is complete trash and nothing yet deserves less than a six (although if a show was really deserving of less than a six, meaning I wish I had never watched it, I would rate it as such, but I try not to watch/complete anime that I know will be bad or that I won't like). I score based on two categories: overall quality and overall enjoyment/re-watch-ability. A show can be perfect in every category (sound, animation, characters, plot), but if have don't like it enough to re-watch, i won't give it a ten. But the reverse is also true. A show might be mediocre in in several categories, but if i enjoyed myself enough for a re-watch, I might give it a ten. Because of this, my scores of shows might change depending on if I eventually re-watch it or decide not to. Back on topic, my score can be viewed like this: 1-5: If this bad, I would drop it before finishing it, and I don't record dropped anime: 1 6: Not absolutely terrible but i didn't enjoy it and had a lot of issues: 2-3 7: Nothing remarkable. Pretty average. A monotonous watch: 4-5 8: Good and had a lot of great elements, but I wouldn't re-watch it: 6-7 9: Very good and re-watchable, but not good enough to do so often: 8-9 10: A masterpiece and so good that i would re-watch it again and again and again: 10 That's my scoring system, and I know it is vague, but either way it is all an opinion and therefore details don't really matter. In general, I love musical and thriller anime and hate romance and harem anime. I prefer dubs because it is easier to watch, but I have no problem watching subs if I need to and I admit that they are usually better than the dubs. My favorite anime is Bleach, however the best anime in my opinion is Bacanno. My least favorite is Tokyo Ghoul:re, however there are definitely worse shows...I think. I like to watch anime legally. However, if I can't find an anime on my crunchyroll/funimation/hulu/netflix/amazon account, i have no problems watching it somewhere else online. But everyone should try to pay for what they watch. Favortie Book Genres: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Mystery, and Thriller Favorite Book Series: Every series from Brandon Sanderson and The Shadow Saga by Orson Scott Card Favotite Music Genres: Jazz, Country, and Rock Favorite Music Artists: Dave Matthews Band, Toby Keith, and Carrie Underwood Favorite Movie Genres: Horror, Mystery, and Thriller Favorite Movies: the Scream franchise and Non-Stop Favorite Actors: Liam Neison and AnnaSophia Robb Favorite TV Shows: Supernatural, The Office, and Malcolm In The Middle Favorite American Cartoons: Scooby Doo, Justice League, and Avatar: The Last Airbender Some random things about me are that I was in the army, play the drums, enjoy skiing, and can stick a six inch nail completely up my nose. I don't really write reviews often because I don't think enough people will see them in order to make a difference, but if you want to know my opinion of a specific show, just ask, or go through my list where I have listed in the tag section on where I found faults with the series, unless it was a ten where I list the positives of the show. I am generally a reserved person and thus I don't feel comfortable sending friend requests, but if I receive one, I might except it. I don't think of friends on MAL as a statistic. If I accept I want it to be a "friendship" with occasional conversations. It can be about anything. I currently have only a couple of friends on MAL like that and the rest are mostly those who I accepted before I realized that "friendship" on MAL is pointless if there aren't any communication between them. Part of it is my fault since I don't communicate with them as well but I do let everyone know that they should start communication first. That is how i am. So if you still want to be my friend on MAL then tell me a little bit about yourself and your history with the medium of anime. Time to head back to streaming anime...Legally of course. ----------------- *Under Light Construction Anime Awards: 11 other great anime that were once in my favorites and got swapped out for now (only series on favorite list now, no films allowed). So if someone knows where it is, feel free to let me know. Proof that Spike Spiegel would have been an excellent community moderator: |
