Review of Attack on Titan: Season 1, Episode 11

Attack on Titan Season 1 Episode 11, titled "Idol: Battle for Trost District Part 7," raises the stakes even higher as the human forces face not only the Titans but also their own fears and doubts. This episode is packed with tension and pivotal moments that kept me on the edge of my seat.
The episode begins with a sobering realization: the Titans are no longer the only enemy. Eren understands that fear, uncertainty, and even the government's hidden agenda pose just as much of a threat. We see the soldiers' morale crumble, with many too terrified to return to Trost, some even preferring death over facing the Titans again. This atmosphere of despair is expertly captured, setting the tone for the rest of the episode.
Commander Pixis takes center stage, rallying the troops and unveiling a plan that hinges on Eren's ability to control his Titan form. Armin's strategy to lure the Titans away from the boulder using the majority of the soldiers is both clever and risky. However, doubt lingers—can Eren truly control the Titan power within him? This uncertainty adds another layer of tension, as the soldiers, despite their fear, choose to stay and fight after Pixis’ impassioned speech.
Pixis reveals a harsh truth about the government's plan to take back Wall Maria, exposing the cruelty of using refugees as a means to an end. This revelation is a chilling reminder of the harsh realities of their world and the desperate measures taken to survive. If Wall Rose falls, Wall Sina cannot support even half of the population, a sobering thought that underscores the gravity of their mission.
As the plan unfolds, three Garrison soldiers, along with Mikasa, are assigned to protect Eren. The lure works, and Titans begin gathering, as the soldiers are ordered not to engage. The visuals of the soldiers flying through the streets using ODM gear are, as always, awesome as hell. The animation and choreography continue to impress, making every action scene a thrill to watch.
Eren's transformation is a pivotal moment, with the familiar ritual of biting his hand to trigger the change. However, the episode takes a shocking turn when Eren, now in Titan form, turns around and attacks Mikasa. This unexpected twist leaves us with so many questions—why did he attack her? Is Eren losing control, or is something more sinister at play?
This episode was a significant step up from the previous one, earning a solid 5 out of 5 from me. Pixis proves to be an interesting and effective leader, while Armin's plan showcases his tactical genius. The ending was nothing short of insane, and it left me eagerly anticipating what comes next. Attack on Titan continues to keep me guessing, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here.
