Week 06 Update Complete.

Oshi no Ko and Make Heroine are now obviously dominating the season as a whole, another big boost for both, the greater being Oshi no Ko now sees both being the top 2 on both Score Change and MAL Score Tables. Mahou Shoujo Aku and NieR Automata trying to keep pace with both but its not easy as while both retain their perfect MSP scores, they continue to slow with each passing week, one slip up will see them lose their top 2 spots on MSP table. A mediocre start to the season on week 6 for Delco's Nursery and Mayonaka Punch suffers its first drop of the season.

I agree about the recency bias thing, for oshi no ko I think it's also the episode length, that must've helped a lot.

I wonder who is going to break this record next :&

@WIIXAnd If you mean by number of comments in the MAL episode discussion thread then I don't know if there's a good way to really verify it but I think most likely it probably is yes. I tried looking up some other very well known examples for reference but couldn't find anything with more at least. Chainsaw Man is probably the closest yeah, some others in the ballpark are Re Zero ep 15, Code Geass R2 ep 25, and Steins;Gate ep 24, but it's probably gonna be Oshi. Really it has to be something that boomed in recent years when MAL's user count has skyrocketed compared to in the past

idk if this is a good place to ask, but is the first ep of Oshi no Ko currently the most discussed ep of all time?

the closest I found was the first ep of Chainsaw Man :&

Week 05 Update Complete.

- Oshi no Ko II has finally woken up from its slumber, its now back to back score rises and finally an appearance on the score change table
- Tower of God II continues to drop at a rapid rate, i fear for its final score
- Mahou Shojo Aku retains its perfect MSP but slows a little
- Make Heroine, probably the outstanding show of the season so far, finally takes the perch on score change and is runner up on both MSP and MAL tables, also takes anime of the week
- Mayonaka Punch showing signs of good momentum and moves up well on the score change table
- NieR II slows a bit but still impressing however loses top spot on score change
- Nige Jouzu loses a stronger week on the 3 week score change table and thus takes a significant drop there
- Shikanoko also dropping at an alarming rate
- 3 drops in a row for Alya-san, it is on a downward spiral
- 3 rises in a row for My Hero Academia VII, its on an upward trajectory

Monthly Source Material Update Complete.

Good rises for 2.5 jigen and Isekai Shikkaku, tied for best of the month, closely followed by Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi. Majority of other shows stagated. Oshi no Ko remains top for MAL score with Tower of God not too far off. Alya, Gimai Seikatsu and Sengoku Youko are the only other titles above an 8.

As for comparing our manga and anime scores, we see Elf-san with over a full point above its adaptation with the likes of Sengoku Youko and Boku no Tsuma slightly below a full point. There's also significant score differences for Tower of God, Gimai Seikatus and Senpai Otoko. At the other end Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi's anime is also a point and half better than its source material, a very rare occurence, the only other big swing in the other direction was the new Fairy Tail.

Week 04 Update Complete.

One month of data now so things are starting to take shape especially on our tables. NieR, Make Heroine and MahouAku are ahead of the pack so far and its the same 3 shows that have an MSP score of more than 1 going into the 4th week of the season. Nige Jouzu is also joint top of score change but with this being majorly because of a strong single week there are concerns about its sustainability as it also falls below 8. Oshi no Ko finally had its first rise of the season, and after a promising start its now back to back drops for Alya-san, its still above 8 though. A good battle for Anime of the week this time but Mahou Shoujo Aku takes it.

Week 03 Update Complete.

Impressive showings from both Make Heroine and Nier Automata, particularly from the former given its a new show and is currently no.2 on MAL score for the whole season. After a promising start, Shikanoko took quite a significant dip this week as did Isekai Suicide squad. Nige Jouzu seems like another promising show to keep an eye on while Alya-san took a slight hit compared to last week.

Make Heroine and NieR tie for anime of the week this time around.
