I was enjoying the anime.
Guess I will just have to wait and see what happens and if it was worth it.

@INTJ_Ren wow, apparently you've just decided to cherry-pick your data points. perhaps you should look at Silver Link's track record in its ENTIRETY?

also, Chivalry? from 2015? that was a pump and dump anime when it came out NINE years ago!

@INTJ_Ren you brought up Silver Link... AND more than one of their anime titles. so, you opened the door and i walked in.

apparently, you've no knowledge about how to tell if a show is just a promo pump and dump anime planned and created for just that purpose. you got some counterpoint titles, rattle them off!

here are some prospective points to keep in mind for the future to assist you in figuring out if a show will just be promo materials.
1 no immediate announcement of a sequel/Part 2/Cour 2 in the final episode's end-credits.
2 no announcement of a sequel etc. via social media or press release within 24h of the finale.
3 no supporting goodies, extras, specials, OVAs, cut content disk-only extras, or one-shot animation put on a disk and tacked onto a manga/LN book 'limited edition'.
4 no announcement of a sequel within 30-days of the finale.
5 " " " " " 90-days of the finale.
6 same as 3, 4 & 5 but 365 days
7 same as 3, 4, 5 & 6 but 2 years.
8 only 12 episodes, or 13, or 14. so just a single 3-month-long Season show.
9 the anime was aired/broadcast/streamed in Japan WHILE the original/main source material(s) were still being printed/released/published in Japan.
10 the anime's 1st episode/broadcast etc. happens in the SAME MONTH as one of the original source material(s) physically published pieces was being FIRST sold.
12 a NEW EDITION of a previously published printed original source material is announced alongside the anime.
13 the anime SUDDENLY ends with a somewhat satisfactory conclusion. but that conclusion does NOT tie up more than half of the central plot-points of the story.
14 " " " " WITHOUT a conclusion, of any type. the episodes just. stop. at. a. point. and that's it.
15 the anime reaches 'an ending'. but you discover... that was a 'fake ending' and the source material(s) just kept going.

of course, no anime is going to have every single point i've mentioned. but if a show has a decent number of those points? most probably that anime was created MERELY to promote sales of books/magazines/merch, make everybody involved a profit, and 'hopefully' make the fans happy.

You’re not accounting for anime that come back after 10+ years.

You’re not accounting for other variables such as maybe they’re waiting for the source material to finish or even a little after.

You’re not accounting for the possibilities someone else might take the reins eventually.

I stopped believing any anime was “pump and dump” once bleach, COTE, Devil is a part timer, urusei yatsura, and even Ranma came back.

Something as stupid as aharen is getting a season 2 for some reason which if they were just going to promote its source material they wouldn’t need another season to do that so nothing you’ve said thus far really accounts for anything.

I’ve opened the door just for you to not even walk in, you’re more or less soliciting with a tl;dr ahh comment.

@INTJ_Ren ok...

you going to put up some titles or are you just going to drop that entire piece of your first counterpoint?

your point 1. yes i am. 13, 14, and 15 all cover that. titles, start rattling them off.

point 2. yes i am, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

point 3. again, yes i am. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15.

Bleach? wow. you are totally clueless... 366 episodes? over HALF of them anime original fillers? one of the 'classic' Big Three of Shonen Jump manga titles? original anime run of ALMOST EIGHT YEARS? top five earner for TVTokyo amongst all their anime titles for 3 YEARS after the 366th episode aired. and you think you can put THAT title in a list of possible pump and dump promo anime?

COTE? decrypt that acronym if you don't mind.

Devil is a PT? 9 years gap between S1 and S2. S1 13 episodes. LN didn't publish the final volume till Aug 2020 which was almost 7 years after S1 of the anime. S2 starts in July 2022 which was nigh on 2 years AFTER the final LN published. but yet S3 starts up exactly 1 year and 1 day after S2 starts up. S1 promo anime? you betcha. S2 and S3? nope, that's a sequel and another sequel.

i've never said my list of points is a perfect predictor, it is merely my experiences of over 30 years watching anime come and go and then never come back again.

omfg! urusei yatsura and Ranma? those are REMAKES! NOT SEQUELS! let's pull out another of Takahashi-sensei's titles... Yashahime was a SEQUEL! that didn't even have a sequel manga to work with...or even epilogue chapter(s) in InuYasha to start the anime off of.

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai? we don't know when (or even if) that S2 will show up, we don't have a YEAR yet. just one spot, the website, has started the promotion cycle for S2 of that show. shrug. not enough data for that title to say anything about it.

I will put up titles and Expand on my first point.

So listen up, old man who’s clearly a rookie.

Chivalry can still come back, we obviously know that. I gave you titles that suggest series can get sequels and get sequels that retell the story then continue the story or what you tried to flame me on ,”remakes”.

Re zero has large gaps between seasons. For moment it could’ve been pump and dump but wasn’t, there was no clear indicator that white fox was gonna do a single season then bounce to promote the series or not.

AOT, FMA, and spice and wolf, all could’ve been in the same spot as chivalry but weren’t because eventually they all got sequels after x amount of time respectively and due to various circumstances the best circumstance being that they were not being handled but silverlink.

In layman’s terms studios that can handle sequels and remakes something chivalry needs.

Currently with kimisen, they tried the sequel route after failing with chivalry and look at them they can’t do it. They have to try again later. They should just call it quits and let their titles be handled/remade by another studio.

You’re only accounting for anime that came out 10+ years ago, you’re only editing and trying to say that you are cause you got caught. Furthermore, Bleach, any anime can be pump and dump there’s a plethora of big names like bleach that are, best example: no game no life. For a while it was until TYBW brought it out of that status otherwise how else can explain those fillers. People have to read the manga one way or another even if bleach being pump and dump is a hot take.

Classroom of the Elite, you were able to search up aharen’s full anime name but not cote? I could stop typing here, I don’t know why I’m putting time into you.

Make it make sense? How is one season of Devil is a part timer a pump and dump? Season 1 did well and yet it came back which a lot of people speculated it could before it did just like a lot of people speculate chivalry can come back and every well could so make it makes sense. Actions speak louder than words your 30 years don’t mean nothing rookie. (Act like a rookie, get called a rookie)

Remakes count lmao let’s use spice and wolf as prime example of why a remake counts. First and foremost a remake happens because there just wasn’t enough content at the time for a proper adaptation or the series is popular enough to get a new quality of life revival like urusei yatusra, ranma and spice and wolf. S&W continues where it left off all that while ago after recounting the story we already watched and ranma will more than likely do the same cutting out all the filler it was plagued with. So remakes count cause they can lead into the sequels we never got which is what needs to done for chivalry with a different studio. Yashahime was a sequel, no one said it wasn’t but it’s also proof that a anime can come back after x amount of years, really shooting yourself in the foot there bud.

If it’s been announced it’s happening, when? TBA. But even an anime like aharen that shouldn’t cross outside the realm of pump and dump, clearly shows you that you can’t call something pump and dump until there’s no doubt that it is and with chivalry’s ln just wrapping up it could potentially come back, and hopefully not under the same studio that can’t even get our last crusade or the rise of a new world’s adaptation right (kimisen)

Like I said dropping titles and expanding my point.

Like I said dropping titles and expanding my point.
@INTJ_Ren you know what, remakes are NOT sequels. PERIOD! NO discussion necessary. because they're telling the same STORY, perhaps in a different way, but they are NOT continuations.

Full Metal Alchemist? which one? the first one? that was nigh on 100% ANIME ORIGINAL! Bones and the mangaka Arakawa Hiromu counted out the manga chapters... and guess what? not enough content. so, everybody sat down (no seriously the mangaka has been quoted MULTIPLE TIMES in interviews with her) that she worked WITH the writing staff at Bones to create something similar, but different to the story she was drawing and writing. later on? when she COMPLETED her manga, REMAKE! and Bones created FMA: Brotherhood, a truer to the manga anime. yet again you're trying to use a REMAKE as a sequel!

Re:ZERO? 25 count them TWENTY-FIVE episodes... with a 'double length' extended duration 1st episode for S1. yes, big gap between S1 ending on Sep 19, 2016 and S2 P1 starting on Jul 8, 2020. March 23, 2019 was the FIRST announcement for S2. that shortens the gap between S1 and S2.

but guess what you forgot? LOTS of things. Re:ZERO ~Starting Break Time From Zero~(Apr 8, 2016 to Jun 17, 2016) 11 episodes, yes each only 2 minutes long. but they were broadcast on TV, NOT just disk-extras. “Re:ZERO −Starting Radio Life in Another World” which started on March 27, 2016 with OVER 80 episodes! just by 2021.1.25 (via Re:Zero's franchise news page). from June 27, 2016 till March 29, 2017 FOUR CDs of the audio from the radio show were released containing eight to nine episodes of the show. and i'm not even going to search up how many OTHER events for RL or in-person or convention(s) happened. Apr 10, 2019 to Jun 26, 2019 ISEKAI QUARTET S1! Jan 15, 2020 to Apr 1, 2020 ISEKAI QUARTET S2! THEN covid and S1 DIRECTOR'S CUT! it is right there on the S1 listing here on MAL! here's the quote, "An edited version of the series, titled Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Shin Henshuu-ban (Re: Zero -Starting Life In Another World- Director's Cut), received a rebroadcast starting January 1, 2020. Twenty-five episodes of the original series were combined into thirteen 49-minute long episodes with some scenes being slightly extended. The last four minutes of episode 13 featured new scenes that were later included at the beginning of the second season." then S2 P1 got delayed from April till July did you also forget? S1 (once again on the page for it on MAL) "Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu adapts the first nine volumes of Tappei Nagatsuki's light novel series of the same title." ok LN Volumes 1-9... #1 published in Japan on January 24, 2014 all the way through #9 on September 23, 2016. while season 1 aired in 2016 LN #8 was published in March and #9 in September. AFTER the anime ended LN #10 was published in October and finally #11 in December that year.

the information on how Re:Zero was NEVER a promo anime just OVERFLOWS.

Attack on Titan? never watched it, don't pay attention to it. not commenting on it due to lack of interest on my part because... i frankly don't give a damn that it exists at all in any format. shrug.

"You’re only accounting for anime that came out 10+ years ago" HISTORY YOU KNUCKLEHEAD! ye gods n lil fishies don't you get it? PATTERNS EMERGE OVER TIME! if you don't spend the TIME to recognize said patterns, you'll just be a happy-go-lucky consumer. and! all the titles YOU'RE using are 10+ years old! doublespeak much? you're bitching me out for MY higher number of years of experience with anime and being a supposed rookie...

Spice and Wolf? REMAKE AGAIN! do you have no titles OUTSIDE of remakes you can use to prop up your supposition that YOU know when a show isn't a pump n dump promo anime? oh! did you FORGET!! Holo got a sequel the FIRST time her anime came out! TWO seasons! not just one! oh! and your FAVE bit of blather? 'new studio make sequel'... your own title USED THREE! THREE!!! STUDIOS! S1 Imagin Jan 9, 2008 to Mar 26, 2008 then S2 Brain's Base and Marvy Jack Jul 9, 2009 to Sep 24, 2009. after a FIFTEEN MONTH-LONG GAP! two new studios took on the franchise and made a sequel anime.

No Game No Life? OMG! you're one of those?! i should have guessed. how many times have you cried into your pillow, 'why no game no life sequel!? waaahhhh!' ??? PLAGARISM SCANDAL YOU KNUCKLEHEAD! author plus his wife/co-author were so VILIFIED in Japan they uprooted themselves AND RELOCATED TO BRAZIL! and have never. published. in. Japan. again! those two are so blacklisted i was totally effing shocked the prequel MOVIE got a single Yen of support from anybody. it still happened, be happy with that.

"S&W continues where it left off all that while ago after recounting the story we already watched" no it doesn't. it hasn't so far continued onwards beyond the first two anime seasons. they're still airing episodes of LN Volumes ALREADY aired in anime form. it has NOT gone PAST the City of Kumersun from LN Vol. #3 and moved into the Village of Tereo in LN Vol. #4 OR skipped over Vol. #4 (like the original anime did) and move straight into the city of Lenos from LN Vol. #5. we'll just have to wait and see what episode 20 shows us.

nope Yashahime WASN'T me shooting myself in the foot. did you MISS the entire point of that show? there was ZERO content to adapt! Sunrise created it out of some elements in the manga but that's it. just like i previously mentioned with the 1st anime of FMA, Yashahime was an original work that was a sequel.

Chivalry finally completed its LN run after 10 years? back in December of 2023? well that's good news... i hadn't followed the franchise closely after buying Sentai Filmworks' EDub BR 2Disk set. problem is... that in no way even closely resembles ANY hope for a sequel. think about it from the CASH angle. even with covid 2020 'screwing with' anime productions in 2019-20... IF SB Creative (Chivalry's book publisher) was smart? they would have begun negotiations and gathering up The Big Yen Guys for a Season 2 anime covering 'previously published Volumes' back in November 2019 when Vol. #17 was published... or even as late as June 2020 when Vol. #18 was published. all in order to commemorate and cash in and possibly even drum up more sales of the final three or just the last two Volumes. PLUS sales of previously published Volumes. PLUS possibly even a new EDITION of the Volumes already covered in the first iteration of the anime. then! if that new anime covering OLD Volumes did good... the impetus to 'keep the money-train moving' might have gotten all the way through Vol. #19.

Strike The Blood went so far as to LEAVE TV broadcasting formatting ENTIRELY after Season 1 to produce Disk-Only-OVA adaptations of that LN franchise till the FINAL book was adapted. those guys went 1970's to 1990's OLD SCHOOL anime release formatting when TV anime was a much smaller piece of how otaku stuff was promoted than today.

you don't think ASCII Media Works publishers of 'Spice & Wolf' and 'Wolf & Parchment' don't have LOTS of pre-printed copies of the LN/manga sitting around in warehouses to put on shelves and sell alongside that remake. i doubt Ayakura Jū's Spice & Wolf art-book will be ignored either.

oh, Classroom of the Elite? i wasn't impressed with S1, i finished it but it was a truly average show. i dropped S2 after the first 3 episodes. i haven't bothered to keep up with it ever since.
just an ol school otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

Aight bro I’m not reading all that; Agree to disagree. You like silver link, cool beans, I don’t but these tl;dr ass responses ain’t it.

The fact that you took the time to type all that out is mad weird, especially when I didn’t @ you or nothing like that to begin with.

I think the worst part is you didn’t mention kimisen not one time throughout all this, you probably did in that second long ass response but again I’m not reading all that.
