Lorraine is such a good character. Total support and understanding without the harping and no trying to change the MC.

The title couldn't of been further from the truth, "The Undead Unwanted adventurer" the MC isn't disliked by anyone he's just undead and self conscious about it. Literally no one seems to care he's undead beyond the 1st chick who meets him as a ghoul. Some of the most lackluster storytelling.

I appreciated this series, not a masterpiece but a solid entertaining anime, interesting plot and fascinating astmosphere, and... Lorraine was a bonus.
I would watch a season 2.

Backstory was shortened by big chunk, completely leaving out some characters, but it shouldn't be issue even if get 2nd season one day and episode as whole worked really well imho.
@Tenzen12

Agreed. They trimmed out some stuff with Rina as well as some of the monster stuff. Really didn't expect them to do his backstory NOW since it comes up a bit later. Overall a pretty solid decent adaption.

I'm really happy this series got an anime adaptation and I enjoyed watching it every week. There isn't much to say that hasn't been said already, either here or in the reviews. I guess I'm happy with that we have gotten in these twelve episodes, rather than sad that it ended. I really can't see this anime becoming succesful enough to get a second season, but who knows.

While I wasn't entirely satisfied with the first season of Saihate no Paladin, I did get a lot of enjoyment from the second season. It's very to-the-point, and like you said, kinda old-school.

I can't recommend the LN enough. Been reading it for years and it's one of my favorites. I'm still surprised the anime managed to adapt it decently enough. But as there isn't much action, I feel it has a much more niche audience among anime watchers. It's more slice-of-life in a sense than anything else.

Speaking of favorites, what series can you recommend? I haven't really been watching much anime the past years partially because I got tired of typical anime tropes, and every time I check back in I don't really see anything fresh.

Thanks for the fast reply and suggestions. From a quick glance, those seem pretty varied. Although I couldn't find Onimai or OnK - which anime do these shorthands stand for?

I already had Frieren on my list, but I like to wait until a series is done airing nowadays before I start watching. Watching Undead Unwanted Adventurer on a weekly basis was an exception for me.

It could be a better final episode, the only important part was the fact that Rent became a minor vampire and gets his appearance back. The rest of the episode wasn't really good, his feedback could have appeared sooner into the anime. Actually, I wish this anime could get a second season and also I would like to see some new evoluitons of him and also how he could get this evolutions, what he needs to do to become stronger. It was a good anime at all, not fantastic, but good to spend time.

Damn, losing both his parents, granny, and childhood friend on top of that, all at age 5--would traumatize most people from the tragedy. I'm glad Rentt persevered.

I'm sad this was the final episode...it was such a pleasure to see a down to earth genuine fantasy story following a hero's journey instead of the cookie-cut out isekais (not that I don't like mass-produced cookies anymore, but I just need a break now and then). The relationship with Loraine is perfect and wholesome. I absolutely hope we get a second season of this. A solid 10/10 for me.

at least the season ended with him regaining his old face back, although he can't remove the mask now, which seems to work to his advantage coz it'll help hide his red eyes. hopefully there's a second season to this; i wanna see if rentt gets to meet up with that mythril-class adventurer that inspired him to become one himself.

While it was nice that we got to see what Rentt's childhood was like man the fate of his friend sure was dark. Grim as that was for Rentt i can see where his inspiration to become an adventurer came from. Being able to see how the one's that were affected by his actions was a nice touch. Congrats to Rentt for evolving once more into something thats not just more powerful but far more human like. Looking forward to seeing another season for this.

NGL, this was not a good end to the season but I still like the series overall.
Now that he is a more or less a real vampire, he finally can pass up more as a human and opens himself up to more freedom to move around.
Anyway, I would prefer the anime adaptation more but I am glad the manga adaptation is still going strong, so I guess I'll jump quickly back to that.

The previous episode started to lose me a bit, and had me thinking "glad that this is almost over".

This last episode, however, has me thinking "IT'S OVER ALREADY??!!"

I don't know if Rentt ever will fully become human again, but this is probably the closest he's going to get to that state, and I'm glad that we ended the season with Lorraine finally being able to see his face again. He just has some red eyes now and some wings.... but I guess he's a vampire that's okay with sunlight, so that's a plus. Man's essentially an enhanced human, which will definitely aid him in his journey to become mithril-class. He may be requiring more blood now though as a vampire, which he will probably keep getting from Lorraine. And I'll just come out and admit that I definitely won't mind some Lorraine blood-sucking scenes >:)

Anyway, man am I glad that I decided to eventually watch this even though at the start of the season I completely disregarded it (picked up most anime airing this season, and dropped like over half of what I did pick up)- having an undead adventurer as the main character just didn't seem that appealing. But man oh man I don't know how it does it, but after almost every episode you just can't help but feel warm and cozy inside somehow. That calming ED certainly helps, but the show itself just has its own kind of wholesome that relaxes you in its own way.

Yes of course I would like more, but if this is it for the anime, I am more than happy with what we've got.

7.4/10

man this anime is more like a premise about mc's evolution from a zombie to a vampire if there is no season 2.
in the middle a lot of eps were wasted to project meaningless events as how the mc completed dungeons and rescued NPCs until the final ep that the mc's important background story was truly revealed.

Very nice and cozy anime that keep stay in 'reverse' classic hero tales tropes, which i adored them.

Almost similar with Saihate Paladin, but with less plot and more fantasy-sol'esqe style. Good good.
Really hoped for s2, the story was far for complete.

Shit man I’ll miss this series it was actually a solid ass fantasy show imo I loved watching this every Friday, I’m happy Rentt is one more step towards his goal of becoming a Mythril class adventure and him being a lesser vampire or whatever is so cool bro got his skin tone back and his eyes back as well I’m so happy for him man😊😃

There’s something about Rentt that makes me root for him especially that sad backstory of his, the fact that they played the full ending song was a nice touch and tbh that shit was touching me man why is the end song so chill yet moving🥹😭🥹

I really hope we get a season 2 tbh if anything I think I just might read the manga bc I really wanna see how far he goes with his evolution and Lorraine was my favourite character in this show by far same with Sheila both of them are so pretty🤩

Based off my enjoyment for this series I give this a 8/10 it would be a 9 if it had Sakuga moments but sadly it didn’t but still a good watch tho🔥🔥🔥🔥

Anyways lets address the elephant in the room guys…………JESUS BOMBOCLATTTTT I SWEAR LORRAINE GOT THE BEST PAIR OF TITTIES IN ANIME IVE SEEN I don’t blame Rentt for looking there with his new pair of eyes😭😩😮‍💨😩😮‍💨😩😮‍💨😩😮‍💨😩😮‍💨😩😮‍💨😩😮‍💨😩

I SWEAR LORRAINE GOT THE BEST PAIR OF TITTIES IN ANIME IVE SEEN

eh.... her booba is nice, but it's not really the "best"... there are tons of other better anime boobas out there. Especially actual "fan service" series that put 90% of budget in boobas, lol.

But Lorraine does have a really good looking body. She's very pale, smooth and soft looking, just makes you want to go up and squishy squishy her for hours.

.

Huh... Rentt's family was hunted down by a wolf and he's the only one that survived... OOF...

So Rentt have a legit reason to become stronger.

.

Hmm... but he was suppose to go find and meet the mithril adventurer after becoming an adventurer, but he spend ANOTHER 10 year trying to get higher than a Bronze...

So if the mithril adventurer actually remembers 10 years ago... but missed the meeting like they were suppose to have... and it's been 10 years later... (a total of 20 years)... will that mithril adventurer still remember or will he think Rentt died? (which Rentt techniqually did).

And Rentt was in some sort of "water world" inside his own mind as he talks and remembers about things while he lies there until he woke up.

And his body has returned back to his formor human body (with scars... huh... interesting... though tit would be a complete new body, but it's still his former body)

But Rentt got tiny wings now, LOL.

.

Lorraine's "welcome back" was so sweet, I wish I was Rentt there receiving that.

Rentt's life isn't so bad if you really think about it.

While his family did get massacred by a giant wolf. He did have a good adventurous life and was techniqually blessed by a Dragon so he could become stronger to reach his goal. And have a VERY good dedicated companion with him. (no, not the rat... LOL, the waifu)

Yeah they skipped some stuff with her. Most likely due to time constraints and no idea if they'd get a second season since the backstory stuff was also done much earlier and under much different circumstances and context.

We finally get Rentt backstory. He becomes some sort of vampire after drinking the blood, but the evolution was quite painful. The ending was pretty chill, I'd hoped for a bit more maybe.

A lot of trashy harem fantasy/isekai anime are rated 7 or more on this site for some reason but this show is one those that actually deserve a 7/10. Nothing that impressive but it was a nice chill watch all around with no edgelord or cringe elements. Animation wasnt amazing but not awful either. Characters looked fine and there weren't any particularly bad looking scenes that stood out throughout the 12 episodes imo.

There were many fantasy shows this season but I think this one managed to be a bit better than average. Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic was the other mid but enjoyable fantasy anime, though Unwanted Immortal Adventurer edges it out. Doubt either will be getting a second season though, which is a shame. I'll take them over that overhyped Solo Leveling shit any day (and of course a sequel for that one is inevitable...)

This has been such a nice series. I thought the premise sounded interesting so gave it a shot and it ended up being one of the anime I look forward to the most each week. The concept of the MC being an undead hasnt been done too much in anime. I know a lot of manga that has done it but not in this down to earth type of story in one area.

Ending was really nice too. OP was a banger. Hope we get more of this in the future but I find it unlikely as this felt like one of the more underground anime of the season.

Hm, not a bad anime.

Solid 7/10 up until episode 4 or 5, then it got okay-ish and sometimes boring up until half of episode 12, the other half of episode 12 had some pleasent heartwarming moments with Lorraine and finally his adventure paid of by envolving.

I would dare to say that his relationship with Lorraine was the best part of this anime - no unnecessary melodrama, no forced romance - things flowing naturally and smoothly between both.

I would rate this anime 6.5/10 if it was possible. I wish I could give a 7, but for some reason I am leaning more towards 6/10.
