My guy really got rejected once and decided to rule out women entirely for the rest of his life. You can tell he is in too deep the minute he starts talking about 2D vs 3D women and immediately tries to prove that Ririsa isn't a 'true fan' the moment she comes in. This show was absolutely not afraid to show what it is about in the first episode. The fanservice levels were turned up to 11 from the outset. Full changing scenes, panty and boob shots, accidentally falling and grabbing boobs, really everything you could ask for. I think what really makes or breaks a show like this is how cute and likeable the girl is. In this case Ririsa is very outgoing needy in the sense that she seems to desire male attention - a perfect fit to get some solid revealing shots. I really did find her cute so as long as they can keep things feeling fun and fresh then this show definitely has potential to be the perfect kind of trashy ecchi. In other words, yeah this episode was full of the tropes you would expect from ecchi but luckily I am a massive sucker for those tropes. The ED was also perfect; I love a good dance sequence as and ending.

Tbh, this first episode had exactly what I had expected including the otaku-themed OP song, gimmicks, characters, etc. The theme song works for this anime imo. I read manga awhile ago but it looks like the anime is sticking with what it tries to sell with the cosplay elements. Not a fan of Masamune Okumura though. He has such a punchable face.

> My zipper's stuck

And they also threw in some fan service with silly teases so I expect rest of the season to have this recurring gag.

Out of all the ecchi coming out this season, this one is the one I've been waiting for the longest and have been most hyped about, for many reasons beyond just the ecchi itself.

I could see Meychan's OP growing on me, but for now both it and the ED are okay.

"mY MoM RaN OfF WiTh sOmE DuDe, BuT It dOsEnT MaTtEr bEcAuSe i hAvE My wAiFu bY My sIdE At aLl tImEs!" Dude just glosses over the fact his mom left him... but it's okay, he has the ultimate waifu in this world, Liliel. Also dude decides that because he got rejected once he's going to just rule out women for the rest of his life. I started reading the manga for this one a couple of weeks back, and I don't know if my taste is just bad, but I couldn't stop myself from going through three volumes in one sitting. So, to say I've been hyped is an understatement. The main concern when this first got announced was the studio, J.C. Staff, as they not only have 30+ shows to work on, but their animation is usually not the best. So when I saw how the art style for this looked, it made me happy that J.C. Staff is putting in some effort, unlike most of their productions.

One of the only things that also concerned me going into this was whether they would keep that same white line that the entire manga has, even in the least erotic scenes ever. For now, while they're not showing nipples, at least there's not a white line blocking half the screen like in the manga. They're at least showing the panties, so that's a plus. The episode itself was pretty faithful to the first chapter from what I can remember. They introduced not only the characters themselves but also their goals and obsessions, to which they both obviously obsess over Liliel. They kept that same feeling from the manga of seeing the characters go on about not being ashamed of their personal passions, while all objects of said passion are ruthlessly obfuscated, which is one of the things I love about this show.

I do have concerns about this being a two-cour series, but J.C. Staff exceeded my expectations with the first episode. If they continue like this, they'll have one hell of a show on their hands.

P.S. THEY DID MY GIRL LILEL JUSTICE. THANK YOU J.C. STAFF

The story about the most japanese guy… an ultra hardocre otaku voicing his opinions about how he wanna live a life surrounded by 2d and 2d girls only. If the manga wasn’t selling millions already, it would most definitely be after this adaptation. But yeah, you see with these stories, the guys who wanna stay away from real girls the most get the hottest real girl out there… just for breathing, existing, being the main character or they might have done some good deeds in their previous life? Couldn’t figure out the reason yet but yeah.

I mean a girl as cute as Ririsa literally dropping from the heavens and cosplaying the character, this guy literally has painted walls all over the club room by fantasising every fantasy about is really something… a fantasy itself. Though they not holding back from showing the bare white skins and a bit of ecchi if nothing lol. But yeah, at the end of the day this guy is over the top and we should not forget that stuff happening here is again the wet dreams of every japanese otaku out there. Anyway, the show knows what they'd do for the next six months, and despite it being really dumb, it coould become fun.. going forward.. maybe.

Inspired by mangaka Shinichi Fukuda's Sono Bisque Doll a.k.a My Dress-Up Darling, mangaka Yuu Hashimoto's lone work of 2.5D Seduction is YET another rom-com-esque show that focuses on cosplay...and more!

Meychan helms the OP, and I've gotta say that I still like his vocals from High Card's Season 1 ED, it's a great song. ED is a vibe too.

MC Masamune Okumura rejecting the 3D reality world and embracing full 2D otaku energy with his craze for his 2D waifu Liliel, while being the sole member of his "ass and titties only" manga club, it's the arrival of Ririsa Amano that he opens his eyes to 3D. At the very least, Ririsa is not like the 3D people he met before, having the same commonality for the love of Liliel, except that Ririsa's love far outweighs Okumura's.

Ririsa shelling out Liliel cosroms to want to wear one because she went to a Comiket convention before, it shows in her conviction..and her wanting Okumura to become her photographer, it's a great chance...and by sheer confidence as well. In the same manner, Okumura allowing her to be part of his otaku club, and Ririsa just changing in front of him...into said waifu character, she's THE REAL DEAL, being more enthusiastic than Okumura could ever realize that he could fall in love with a 3D girl.

No matter the medium, Ririsa wanting her Liliel cosplay character to stand out more, I applaud her conviction to improve further as the character center to inspire other people, it's just Okumura who has to deal with her hijinks in both cosplay...and romance?

The otakudom "complications" of both Okumura and Amano, these two will have a rom-com ride for the ages.
Also, being 24 episodes long, we're gonna have a good time with this show.

2.5 is very fitting since this be a 2.5/10 premiere at best. MC is way too annoying and grating and Ririsa is pretty much exactly like that as well to watch. Found the duo to be way too unlikable to watch although it looks alright. It didnt have as dumb of a meeting as My Dress up darling did with Marin falling what looks like out of space in the anime to bump into Gojo before their whole meeting bout cosplay. Hope the MC can actually grow here and abandon the 'into 2D only' cliches and loud yelling he always be doing.

If so what regions does it air in?

I checked the US and Netherlands but it still shows unavailable!

JC Staff cooked with this one. This looked really good but as expected they toned down the fanservice/ecchi scenes to some extent. Wish they didn't do that but otherwise really enjoyed the premiere. Loved watching Lilysa being an otaku. She's so great. Also Mayura sama! Love her. Can't wait. OP/ED were both nice.

Was very much looking forward to the adaptation, the manga being one of my recent favourites. Should be a fun ride for two cours.

Now I know this will get compared to Sono bisque doll a lot but this is way more focused on the cosplay and cosplayers than that and even packed with a hell lot of fanservice with great shots of the girls in costumes and stuff which I expect to be toned down like this episode. The characters interactions and growth are also really superb.

Dropped it. Not gonna waste my time watching this. I decide to give ep 1 a try because I don't remember the plot points and why I dropped the manga. Turn out it was probably because it was below average lol.

This first episode made me think that this series was probably going to be kind of like 'My Dress-Up Darling', but more silly and with more ecchi.
Overall, a pretty decent start!

She really handed our dude his waifu in the flesh in more ways than one.

And make no mistake, yelling "LILIEL!!!" at the top of your lungs at school is peak degeneracy but there's just something about the sincere, raw passion they pour into the scream I have complete respect for. I'm almost tempted to join them lol

The scheduled screenshot is from Livechart (Service similar to MAL mainly for tracking anime across legal streaming service as well as normal JP release).

The second one is from CR itself.

And guess what anime industry has gone soft. They're censoring too much stuff these days. The manga is better, if you want some good fan service read the manga. what's point of adapting a ecchi manga? if you censor the shit out of it.

Let's face it, we all know what we're getting into with these types of shows, but that was pretty unimpressive in terms of the ecchi, probably censored unfortunately. Ririsa and Masamune are the dorks I kind of expected them to be, and I just love that I could predict the "My zipper's stuck" part perfectly. Hopefully the tropes don't get too annoying. There'll obviously be comparisons to My Dress Up Darling, and how this is just a worse-off version of that. I don't expect this to get into the inner workings of cosplaying, but at the very least, I hope there's some substance of note here. Is it good? Not really. Is it entertaining? Sure.

tbh that guy at the manga club kinda made me throw up with all that cringe ass shit like "i have no interest in 3d girls", but ngl it was also funny, towards the end of the episode at least. and also, boy isn't ririsa one freak, i mean, i don't have any problem about girls liking erotic stuff, but damn bitch you one freaky girl inside 💀

that said, it gon be one wild ride after this, i wanna believe so at least. we gon see and find out...

Gotta love me some pure, unbridled otaku anime, all the more so when it's about sexy cosplays. Not the biggest fan of the male protagonist, but the girls are all pretty cute with interesting personalities. Will definitely watch this till the end.
Unfortunately though, the anime is quite censored, as had been hinted already by the author a long time ago. Instead of just censoring the nipples, they're doing away with other things that they didn't need to remove too though, like underboobs and butts.

Idk why but they completely removed any nipples from it, I wonder if the blu-ray will have them.

I was worried about this adaptation, because I really love the manga, but thankfully they did it right. The manga has way more beautiful fanservice though, but I was worried that it will be even more censored.
Of course I wish it would be less censorship, but the story and dialogue is pretty faithful.
Maeda Kaori was perfect as Ririsa.
Can’t wait for next episodes.

Ririsa is correct because it’s her name, not the fictional character they both love.

“He’s just like me” the anime. “I have zero interest in 3D girls”. Yea, we got us one boys! What a great first episode and cool switch up on the ecchi romcom formula. This season in general has some really difference romance stuff. We’ve got an anime where people are in love with a guy dressed as a girl and now one where the MC is gonna fall for a girl dressed as his waifu 😂

Ririsa is adorable and I really enjoyed seeing her geek out over her favourite series and character. There’s nothing more attractive to me than someone who’s passionate about their interests. I don’t know how bro was so surprised about girls being passionate otaku. I mean anyone who’s been to animate, gamers or any of the shops in Denden town or Akiba will see tons of girls in there. In fact last time I was in animate it was mainly all women 😂 girls are the main ones drawing all the degen stuff.

So far JC staff are cooking with the production values too. Show looks gorgeous, fanservice on point and it’s funny af rn. No complaints, one of my fave first episodes of the season. Can’t wait to see the other girls introduced! Also, it’s funny the MC is voiced by Naoya’s seiyuu from Kanokano and looks just like him. Just as dumb as him too lol.

this is always a problem if an ecchi manga gets an adaption. While the loud and embarassing reactions don't really bother me much in the manga because it's silent, the over-the-top voice acting in these situations can get kinda obnoxious.

I doubt I will enjoy it as much as the manga, especially because of cut and censored content but I'll watch it anyway^^

This could have been way more erotic:

I have mixed feelings about this. I read 2.5 a long time ago and got up to date with it when it had about 30 chapters, and I kinda just forgot about it, but I liked it a lot. Hearing it got an anime got me pumped up, but after watching this episode, it felt off, and after re-reading the first 3 chapters it's apparent. They censored A LOT. Not just a panel or two, they censored PAGES of stuff. If we pretend that isn't a major issue, then the rest of the anime does seem to look great, and the fact it has a 24 episode run time is really surprising.

I know this manga isn't focused on it's ecchi, and I believe they tone it down later in the story, but when censoring is this blatant and apparent it feels very unsettling. I'm just gonna re-read the manga and catch up to it, while also watching the anime weekly. I massively prefer watching anime in general, but alas....
