another peak episode dare I say, something about a robot wife is just so interesting when compared to the dozens of rom-coms that come with the same formula (not knocking on them because they are popular for a reason it’s just not my cup of tea)

I was very scared that somehow the memory card was going to be overwritten by the photo they were going to take so I’m glad it all worked out well

Cute episode, but they sure didn't spend much money on animation in it. Those were a lot of stills!

I noticed that the super Mina is more expressive and has her entire body covered up by fake skin so she looks more human-like unlike the regular Mina but at least this super Mina doesn't seem to be as smart although that could be intentional. Regarding the SD card, I figured it had memories of Takuma that she wanted saved.

This show deserves at least a 7 in my opinion, I actually think the concept is making some people just vote low, kinda strange. Really enjoying it so far. I love all the moments that they kinda leave ambiguous and make you think she might be sentient. A show like this could go so many ways, but I'm just hoping for the good old happy ending lol.

This story has grown on me. Mina is an intelligent machine with a directive to help and please her master. The lonely Takuma is happy that this "Mina" is behaving like a good wife.
Learning what he likes and providing it. He feels love for her. Is this love real?
I'm sure people will have many opinions about this. But Takuma Kosugi is happy.

Sweet, fun episode. There were, to be fair, still a couple of moments that bugged me, but the majority of the episode was adorable.

I can't tell whether this show just doesn't think through its implications regarding rights and freedoms. Some of the themes are going to keep bugging me in that regard, but in net I did enjoy the story and the humor and the character development this episode.

I hope they add the rest of chapter 6 from the manga. Her figuring out how to cuddle Takuma and her getting jealous over the microwave were such great moments. I hope they add them.

It's kind of amusing how Super Mina looks and sounds younger but is taller than Mina. Didnt expect Super Mina to wind up being roboADHD.

Awe Rihito is worried that his parents would get rid of Super Mina.

Well, cuddling together on the same futon is quite hard given Mina's robot strength, Takuma just can't get used to it.

The beach episode is here, and it's not just Mina on the beach, but it's also yet another Mina: the household Super Mina version looking for her owner, which is more expressive than the cooking model that Mina is. And while Akari dolls Mina up, his wife found the owner of Super Mina: a boy who looks dejected, and desperately wants to find because she could be doing so much more. Mina consoling the boy trusting that having Super Mina is not a mistake, while she is still finding irrelevant things other than her owner.

After a sibling call, Super Mina tries locating the boy by literally running from the ocean ground, and both Super Mina and Rihito are reunited, as well as both Mina Series robots with their superhuman telepathy. After that, it's just a good deal of fun at the beach for the group...and when taking pictures using the same SD card, it's full of pictures of Takuma, and it's a good save from Akari, though they'd have to settle for a standard smartphone camera.

All's well for a day's out of fun, both with humans and robots.

Not a fan of the "Super Mina" character.

Honestly, at first, I was unnerved as how "robotic" the original Mina character was, but I've realized it works well, to convey android technology in a realistic light. Not just through appearance or mannerisms, but speech patterns as well.

Now that we've been introduced to "Super Mina", I think it kind of defeats the purpose of the whole show. I understand that Super Mina is supposed to be "Super" and an upgrade, but the mannerisms are too human and lifelike, to the point of the character not even coming off like a robot. Not to mention how inefficient this "robot" is at times, literally losing its owner and not being able to retain a conversation because it has a distractible personality of its own.

Yeah, I know this is an anime. A fictional story. A "cartoon". We've seen very human-like robots in other anime too. But this one was pretty special because it dipped into the uncanny valley a bit. I've gotten used to the somewhat "primitive" nature of the original Mina. Its vacant stare and overly technical speech pattern. It was the DNA of this show. But to repeat myself, the attributes of "Super Mina" sort of defeat the purpose. For me, anyway. I think there are probably more *subtle* ways to make Super Mina "super", while remaining grounded in the technological art of androids that this story initially sought to explore.

Edit: I rewatched the episode. Yeah the fact that "Super Mina" doesn't even recognize that the MC isn't even her "master" upon hearing his voice doesn't make her very "super".

Edit: This show's still an 8 or 9 out of 10 for me, 4 episodes in. But my score my dip as characters grow more outlandish and stray from the precedents set by the first 3 episodes.

Even though this "super" Mina seemed not efficient enough at first, but at least she looked and acted like a human, so I can probably understand if the MC fell in love with that type of robot.

Another robot from the Mina series that surprised me.

Basically she looks like an ordinary human, but unexpectedly she is a robot too. So, she is also the same as Mina, which is called the Super Mina.

A good episode with them at the beach also looks fun.

He just looks like a pretty average-tier Japanese anime guy. Can't see what anyone would find offensive or standout in his looks in any direction. He's the plain everyman type, intended for self-inserts from at least a portion of the audience. Nothing super handsome or ugly and grotesque.

@HyperlinkBlocked I'd say I'm more disheartened than upset. I admired this story for being so grounded and relatively mundane, it was a mature change of pace. I think I'll keep watching just to see how the OG Mina x MC dynamic pans out, but yeah, what an absolute shame they'd waste the story's potential by introducing other outlandish "robots" that don't even possess any robotic attributes. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case... but now that you've warned me, at least I won't get my hopes up going forward. I'm going in blind so that's definitely good to know.

@WaifuSandwich Oh, they definitely have robotic attributes. You're just anthropomorphizing them, and that's why it feels weird to you. They bring up this exact phenomenon in one of the later chapters, but the anime almost definitely isn't going to run that long. Fact of the matter is, you're used to robots being more like toasters, and washing machines, but in the anime, we've got robots that actually need to function in a world full of Humans, so they come programmed with their own robot personalities that, through a mix of convergent design, and the specific need for them to get along with Humans, ends up superficially resembling Human psychology.

Once the robots start talking about what fundamentally motivates them, you realize they're simultaneously more and less Human than you're thinking right now.

Another great episode, it's cool to find out who Super Mina is, and they've hinted at other models who do things like cleaning too. I'm glad Takuma didn't get any ideas about buying an upgrade or something, showing he feels loyalty to "his" Mina. Next week sounds like it will be good!

I'm still waiting to find out what that robot bird thing in the OP and ED is!

This beach episode was actually pretty good. I was mostly expecting fluff but it actually had a decent story. And it introduced some new characters that I hope will make more regular appearances.

It's cool that a Super Mina robot finally made a proper appearance. It was only a matter of time. But the robot is... a bit disappointing? For a premium version of the regular Mina series robot, it seems way too clumsy and prone to making mistakes. But maybe it's as Takuma's Mina said. Super Mina is loaded with so many features that maybe it's supposed to be a "jack of all trades but master of nothing" type of robot. Something that's molded by its human master to become an expert and a unique robot that's perfectly suited for its master. But besides its expressive features, it seems like a waste of money to buy if your main purpose is to do house chores, which the Super Mina might not be able to do effectively at first.

But my cynic self doesn't buy it. It seems to me more like both Minas are just selling and puffing each other up so the humans would have a positive view of its manufacturer and give them more money lol. There's no way corpos wouldn't take advantage of these if such tech becomes a reality. The gaming industry has changed my perception of a lot of things. But this is anime so I guess I should suspend my disbelief more. It's just harder to do than usual.

Wait, that memory card was just full of photos of Takuma? That's... something. I guess Mina did say that the crucial data are already uploaded to the cloud. But I was thinking that maybe this SD card holds backups of Mina's memories with Takuma. But I suppose photos of Takuma ARE memories. I just thought they'd be more like raw data than pictures that a regular camera could read.

EP 4

Last time uh. what happened last time again? orz. i mean, akari showed up and had a talk with mina and something.

Aaand yeah thats the whole ep
This ep was a little bit more crowded and there was limited amount of mina and mr mc time. not sure when we'll see super mina again.
It was a curious difference though.

Wasnt expecting the memory card thing to come up again so soon, is it going to be a recurring thing?
Akari and super mina are quite cute, mina being mina. Next time
