Well...this turned out to be quite something. We got a dedicated gaming with passion and charisma right from the start. The anime is based on a fictional game so there was so potential there. The OP song is also kinda catchy imo.

As for the characters, some others are introduced although I think the main attraction is Rakurou and his personality. And his game avatar has an unique look. It also seems the anime has a lighthearted mood with goofy moments. I know the ideas of this show isn't particular unique but it was entertaining thanks to character personality so far. Definitely has potential.

Ah bro we get it, you’re great a gamer, the kind of trait every next anime protag is born with, but you don’t have to scream this trash game stupidity on top of your lungs every next minute.

Mister trash game hunter and his incomprehensible logic to only play games plagued with bugs and whatever aside, I kind of find it good enough that they made it crystal clear right from the get-go that dude, like his every past predecessor who’s good enough with games, has already a girl who is head over heels for him… for reasons unknown. Anyways, it was about time we’d have seen someone recommending dude the game, the name of this series is based upon.

Shangri-La frontier being it is, a popular cum “god” game as they were terming it, unlike those our main dude used to play. Also, yeah every game in this series is under the category of full-dive, the kind of thing we’re yet to see completely in reality. I won’t say anything about dude’s fashion sense, because he kind of believes too it’s GODDAMN AWFUL, but the bird mask is a good step in the way of making yourself stand out, for better or worse lol.

Usual grinding up with the in-game opponents aside, would’ve to say they did a good job with the animation and visuals, and if it remains this way then all better.

3 years after it's serialization began, Katarina's story of a shitty-game enjoyer finally begins!

Rakurou Hizutome, a sophomore in high school, has a singular passion: seeking out and conquering "shitty games." With unmatched gaming prowess, he revels in even the most abysmal titles. Thus, when he's introduced to the latest VR game, Shangri-La Frontier, Rakurou employs his signature strategy—min-maxing and bypassing the prologue to dive headfirst into the adventure. But can even a gaming virtuoso like Rakurou uncover all the enigmas concealed within Shangri-La Frontier...?

It's interesting to see someone who enjoys playing shitty-games. Well, if it brings him joy, that's what matters. I can't help but feel a twinge of envy witnessing a well-crafted full-dive VR game with such an engaging combat system—I'm eager to experience it myself. It's my hope that we'll eventually reach that level of technological advancement. Personally, I'm not particularly drawn to series centered around video games, so I'm uncertain how long my interest will last. However, the storyline has managed to captivate me thus far, which is a definite plus. While FZMZ's OP is pretty hype, for now... it's just ok.

Off to a decent start, let's see how it progresses.

Mangaka Katarina's Shangri-La Frontier is FINALLY here, and it's one hell riot of a manga!

FZMZ's OP has the MWAM X coldrain feels, and its incredible OP.

This is VR player Sunraku a.k.a Rakuro Hizutome's MO to play trash games, and he's a trash game connoisseur. Other thn the fact that he has got a crush in the form of Rei Saiga, the game store attendant of Towa Amane looks after the store, which one new trash game has just popped into the gameshop, but his previous game of Failia Chronicla Online is a certified trash game of treating the goddess like trash. Amane introducing him to the non-trash game that has amassed a big fanbase: the VRMMO of Shangri-La Frontier, having rave reviews and the like that's played by everyone. And Rakurou gets his first try into a god-tier game that'll finally break his trash game streak.

A standard welcome interface for ShanFro, but having a naked bird-head guy to start with, it's awkward, but that's what he goes with, with his usual IGN. Awaking up in the usual fantasy world, he feels free, but being a wanderer, he starts in the forest, but soons encounters a goblin to test out the game's battle system and enjoy it to the fullest. Learning new skills and leveling up the same as per RPGs, there is no bugs about this and remains stable, no matter the type of monster killed and with its droppings which increase the user's stats.

Solo-leveling a boss, there's fun awaiting Sunraku at every corner, no matter the challenges. Nice that they added the mini-section.

Studio C2C under director Toshiyuki Kubooka, knocked this out of the park with crisp, SAKUGA animation. This 2-cour show finna be fun!

Shangri-La Frontier is a first-rate game that doesn't have any bugs, but I would say that Sunraku is a bug of this game himself.

I'm not a Video Game anime fan, but enjoyed Log Horizon tho, so I was looking forward to watch this since the first trailer, but didn't had so much hope... But now I can say for sure, if this goes on as same quality as first episode till end, this would be one of my favourites... I love this already so much🥺🔥

Finally the GOAT Sunraku is here. Was looking forward to the adaptation so much and they certainly didn't disappoint. This looked really cool and I loved the visuals/color in general. Action scenes were nice as well. Rei is so adorable but wait till you guys find out how her ingame avatar looks kek. Btw that flying kick to the face was hilarious. Sunraku had enough of her.

Loved the premiere and excited for upcoming episodes. This is gonna be quite the journey with two consecutive cours.

Wow, I thought the animation looked great in the PV, but this episode went well beyond that. Aesthetically sublime. It really goes to show how much of a difference quality animation makes. The story was about as basic as it can get, but I still enjoyed every second of the episode. Hopefully, they didn't blow all of their budget on this first episode and can retain solid quality throughout.

That bridge looks exactly like the one I carted wood over.
In black desert online.

Only difference this is a half naked guy in a bird mask...

Instead of a knight of darkness-u, with equally little clothing.

I can't believe it! As a die-hard fan of so many MMORPG series, I could tell right off the bat from the first episode the blood, sweat, and tears they poured into it. It's top-notch from start to finish!

Diving deeper into the works of studio C2C, I realized that while they've had some home runs and a few misses in the past, they truly knocked it out of the park with this one. I can now see why this series stands head and shoulders above many others I've watched.

The opening is a real hook (it's insane by the way), the animations are simply jaw-dropping, and the audio... Wow! I was at a loss for words. To be honest, I didn't set my hopes too high, but boy, did it exceed all my expectations.

Two thumbs up! I'd recommend it to everyone and especially to all my buddies. If you really love for VRMMORPGs series like me, this is right up your alley. It totally blew me away from the get-go! <3

Starting off strong with this one. Shangri la Frontier is already looking like a solid show. We have our main character Rakuro usually enjoys playing badly designed games to make fun of the bugs he encounters in them but after beating one such horrible game he decides to try an actual god tier game. A very interesting premise since there are a lot of buggy games that can be frustrating to play, even more of them are over in Japan which never make it to the West because they're just that bad. Sort of a niche main character backstory but I find Rakuro relatable in that playing an actually good designed game is refreshing and almost liberating. If anyone has grinded through a tough game to the point of being beyond annoyed then they should relate to this too. Rakuro had such fun playing Shangri la Frontier immediately, from even the character maker it's easy to see he's going to actually enjoy this game. Leveling up fighting monsters, getting loot drops, learning skills by completing actions, all of it going very well for Rakuro. His twin blade class makes for some great action even against tiny monsters. The animation really lends itself to action scenes, making them pop that much more. Even the irl scenes at the start of the episode looked very fluid and detailed. This is already shaping up to be a fun series with a gamer bro making his way through an actual god tier game.

Looks fun. Except the protagonist personality, but whatever it is predictable. But i have to agree with him, I don't like to use all that over the top equipment while playing games, my FFXIV character is a big muscle dude too and i want to show that.

Heard a lot of good things about the original material, so definitely going follow to see what makes this special.

Really enjoyed this premiere, it's your MMORPG stuff, but with the added twist that the main character, Sunraku, has played nothing but trash games for most of his life, and is experiencing something good for once. It focused more on Sunraku being impressed with the game mechanics, while doing your usual early game levelling up. Animation was rather crisp and sharpened, and I did have a level of faith that Studio C2C could deliver in that regard, and they did! Hopefully this stays as vibrant and energetic all the way through!

I said it before and I'll say it again. I can't believe how far down the list this is. Would expect people to love this type of anime, kind of like a Sword Art Online but without the high stakes of real death. I'm not saying its a god tier anime or anything, but the animation and art are very above average while also having a clear love interest, comedy like beating up the female NPC at the start, and the OP gamer MC power fantasy to attract a variety of viewers.

Alright, I'm digging this for real. A very enjoyable first episode even though the introduction felt a little bit short IMO, it wasn't that interesting and the word "trash" kept coming over and over. Aside from that, there's nothing else that bothered me. The moment he went into the VR-world, shit got me hooked up. Rakurou's knowledge in "shitty" games paired up with a "godly" game is going to be a treat in my eyes. Top that up with the action sequences we've already got in the first episode, nothing can go wrong. That was just way TOO clean.
The opening and ending are both great imo. Let's see how this plays out.
