Damn that got way out of control, and I don't mean the monster. Noor himself needs to learn to better control his powers.

Ines also gets more screen time and we even got some background storytelling about her. Seems she never forgot about Noor or their previous encounters. Episode is fine as it established Ines as a more important character than she first appeared.

In ep3 thread, I gave a theory about how Noor already passed 6 schools and he doesn't even realized that. This episode pretty much confirm my theory.

Noor and Lynne celebrate the completion of their very first quest, though Rein comes in sudden to enquire the former's help the subdue Deridas's Magical Empire of its spies on the way to the Holy Theocracy of Mithra, with Ines being filled in as Lynne's personal guard and keeping mum about the entire situation against from her. Lynne definitely had a hard upbringing from the Six Sovereigns teaching her to use her Divine Shield, though she kept hearing Noor's name from time to time, being envious of him that he's just a regular dude.

The attacks have begun, though what's a boy doing together with the Black Death Dragon, with the creatures being strong enough to decimate kingdoms and nations, and the demonfolk disguised as humans to mentally counter the demons to the royal capital. Noor gets his try against the frog, though its rather noxious poison proves too much for him, and despite all odds, he still stands strong until he reaches his limit.

Is Noor more than just a scapegoat character for times like this?

Another good episode, this is going well.

It was nice to see Noor enjoying the trip and excited about traveling as an adventurer. Noor also didn't hesitate to rush to save someone in danger. His character is well written.

Lynneburg knew of the demons from her brother, but she also knew that Noor would try to protect someone in danger. I'm glad that she wanted to help Noor, but that was a dangerous situation, Ines was right to protect her from a distance.

Although, I don't like that Ines took so long realize that Noor was trying to protect someone in danger. "I won't help him any more", her jealously and immaturity caused her to be blind to Noor's good intentions and character. She finally came around to realize what her father was talking about and the unique character that Noor had.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

@phantomfandom That is an interesting theory. I was thinking he failed or was not skilled enough, but your theory is the opposite. Noor actually passed all of the 6 schools, but the anime "misunderstanding trope" strikes again and Noor doesn't realize he passed.

This show is so bad.
I have zero investment into any of these chars, they're either insufferable, stupid or both
So Noor knows what a frog is, but sees no issue in a 10 feet frog.
Clearly in his mind that's just a frog, like come on...
Then the rest of the episode was just Ines being needlessly dramatic and antagonistic without having a really good reason to be so.
The Author of this really is no good.

The blonde knight finally has her own background story, SWEET!
She's too serious, but I need more of her personality, and screen time.
There's no such thing as a flawless character, and I doubt the (criticism) guys are even better. kekw (iaaodw)

Anyway, I think MC has his healing skill, but I doubt it can do a thing against the poison.

I really can't wait for more... 🥲

P.S. Ignore the negativity above me.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

This show is like watching a retarded person try everything for the first time. Ooooh water. Oooooh horses. Aaaah waterfall. You are going on a secret mission with high pay grade. Naaah must be ride in the fields. It's disgustingly annoying.

I am curious to know if Noor got some kinda special "gift" all along? like the other clueless MC that supposedly "weak" until he realized he wasn't.

But yeah, I agreed with most of you that this is not getting any better, so I guess we will find out soon enough if this is going anywhere.

Damn shit escalated FAST. Just last week Lynne and Noor were on top of the world taking out an emperor goblin and not able to collect the rewards because they were stupid and burned it. Now the capital is being attacked and the kingdom on the verge of collapse while Noor is as close to death as possible. Life comes at you fast.

Ines backstory was pretty cool and her innate skill which can take whatever shape she wants reminds me of the green lantern ring’s ability. She’s such a kind person and after hurting her friend in the orphanage with it I understand why she only wants to use it as a shield to protect people. But I think her dislike of Noor just because Dandalg made one passing comment is kinda crazy lmao. Unless they’re implying that he made those comments multiple times in the past about wanting Noor to be there?

Either way, I’m kinda thinking Noor didn’t actually fail with the 6 sovereigns’ classes and actually passed them all with flying colours like Rick in Shinmaiossan. There’s just no way you’re telling me a guy this strong was passed on by all of them

Gonna be interesting seeing how Noor gets out of this fight. Probably has OP healing skills as well lol

@Marinate1016 Well, we saw him use low heal before. Maybe he'll just "low heal, low heal, low heal,..." so he can "parry, parry, parry,..." some more.

I'm thinking all the instructors liked his dedication, but at the time, he never progressed past the basics. Unless we get a "this is what ACTUALLY happened" flashback with the instructors, and reveal this dude has some kind of PTSD from his parents dying, I don't see how the author can spin some clear cut "You couldn't get past the basics".

Most likely, we'll see he just practiced all the beginner skills like he did Parry.

I am curious how would Dandelg could have known about Noor. Outside of taking F rank missions, he basically fail at any type of academy for adventurer. Plus he lived in the middle of nowhere forever. None of that screams "Hey we should be watching that guy!" Unless there talking about his father or some other random guy named Noor?

It's unfortunately a troupe where the character is oblivious of their own strength and how he rates with the rest of the world. Something like a running gag. So it's never going to end. Look at the new episode he called a dragon a frog.

NGL, I expected a lot from this series but it's clear that the studio is stretching the content they were allowed to work with.
I am guessing they will only cover very few volumes/chapters of the light novel for this 12-episode run. I mean, we're already nearing half of the season and so far the only good thing that happened was in the 1st episode. Every episode after that was filled with stretched out backstories with very little development for their present timeline.

I'm surprised people are so angry about him not recognizing demons. He most likely didn't really receive much education in the first place. Only went to schools to try to learn basic skills and then continued to train in the woods while doing some low rank odd jobs.

@Moppit I've been assuming the name is just a coincidence. Given what we know about Noor's childhood, skill training, and then going back to living/training by himself, it doesn't make sense that the knight would ever have even encountered Noor, much less become reliant on him.

@amf85 It completely makes no sense at all. One of the most powerful warriors in the kingdom admire him or feels indebted to him for any reason. The entire thing about Ines being jealous of him shouldn't exist. I really hope they show the reason why she envious for whatever reason the next episode.

Looks like the kingdom is now under direct attack from proxies without revealing the actual face of the enemy yet, although the usual suspects are still up there. They're trying to send Lynne away to protect her without her knowing, I think she suspected some of it as well already...and Noor is his usual simple self.

A toad huh? Well that "toad" is gonna be the black death of you.

These types of cliffhangers are just too silly. We know he’s going to be fine lol. He’s the main character. It’s unnecessary. The budget was certainly lacking this week. That fight wasn’t very exciting to watch. But oh well, I’m sure I’ll be back for more “I parry common sense” next week.

the pacing of lore is convincing and the intrigue of the world draws interest; love that Noor continues to think of himself as useless as an adventurer and others see him as supremely useful - even among the highest positioned people in the kingdom. this episode ends on a huge cliffhanger, questioning how Noor will get himself out of the situation. and of particular interest, how the demon boy will fit into the picture...
