Oh Nia was lying...this sets the idea that trust can be a serious issue in these trials. But even after that, it seems Nia's restaurant debt was not paid in full and the client was planning to kill him. It's really sad to see tbh.

We got some action and creative techniques used though. Wangnan Ja is pissed this episode and rightfuly so. Also, I do find this episode somewhat interesting for explaining the motivations of some characters such as Lurker. It seems Wangnan Ja made up his mind about how to climb the tower so I'm curious to see his progress.

Yeah, I don’t know but the sudden transition from Viole’s fight to the Lurker’s betrayal didn’t feel as shocking and scary as they were supposing it to be. Felt for Nia but yeah, the entire stuff with Wangnan and him convincing Viole to join him felt as empty as it could’ve been. I loosely remember this entire stuff, but I can say there was more to Wangnan’s rage and the entire squad foiling whatever Lurker and his goons were planning.

Standard stuff with Wangnan and that loan shark aside, the 20th floor test is over. They rushed through it as expected, so yeah, not too sure over how they’d handle whatever will come next from here on… after this episode, just not lol. By the way, they skipped over the entire explanation over how Viole lost and Wangnan won the test?!?!?!? Lmaoooo, and I doubt they'd bother going back and explaining. Lol, they just wanted to end this episode with Khun's appearance.

The game continues.

If there's one thing this show knows how to do, it's make annoying characters that I wish nothing but pain and death on Lurker and his goons that were holding Nia hostage basically. Then they start punching Nia.... for what reason exactly??? FFS. Speaking of annoying characters, here we got the Young-hee from Squid Games just being a bitch and not wanting for Bamm to pass. Just great.

MVP of the episode was no doubt Kang. Had the BIGGEST smile on my face when he killed that dude. But I had an EVEN BIGGER smile on my face when I saw Ja break that annoying prick's arm. But ofc, he let him live.... WHYYYYY???? "i wAnT To mAkE ThIs a pLaCe wHeRe eVeRyOnE CaN SmIlE"... man whatever. Nice to see the better deuteragonist of this show showing up at the end.

That's one test down.

Wangnan surprisingly has the game all planned out, but Nia is the one outlier that he couldn't save due to his past with Kim Lurker threatening him, with the boy being taken out. The said imposter Prince is still alive, and Yihwa's in danger, much less Viole having to be dealt with the game Administrator on his own personal grudge. And Wangnan wants revenge on Lurker and his companions, with him convincing Viole to be part of his plan to stop Lurker from progressing forward in the Tower.

What goes around, comes around for Lurker, being part of the President's plot to help drive his own son climb up the Tower, which despite the upset that he killed Nia, earns Wangnan's forgiveness in the process to want to climb the Tower and change things from the top. With that, the 8 people pass the test, though at the behest of the Test Director being a fulfillment for FUG in Wangnan's case, as Viole accepts his allyship with him to climb up the Tower.

A real standout episode for Wangnan, he did himself good.

Horyang's right arm in action looked dope in that one shot, otherwise this episode once again felt really rushed and the test not even feeling like a test here compared to even some of the weaker adapted tests in season 1. Everything that made tests intriguing, multi-layered in different ways in the manhwa feels more like a handicap with the anime to handle all of them in such limited time and make it work out well. There was a bit of clarity to the episode though compared to the previous one with Lurker being the defined antagonist here with exploiting Nia like that and betraying too later, having his own motives in mind to rise up the tower shown here. Also shows Wangnan's character too and his desire to forgive Lurker being a terrible person there as he desires to change the tower, even allying with Viole to help him take down an even bigger evil in a way. If there was a lot more time, these moments might have chances of hitting but with the way the anime adapted this, it feels so barebones overall and super lacking. Bam does have new allies now to go up the tower with (even if how it got there still feels weird in the anime version), and even got a cliffhanger with Khun Aguero to get season 1 Tower of God fans a little more interested with someone from the older anime back in some capacity besides a brief appearance from Yuri in the first season and the protagonist of course.

The editing in the episode and the transitions were pretty terrible. Loud Kevin Penkin would just blast out of nowhere within one frame without any transition at times, and scenes once again not having transitions that makes the anime feel very static and almost more of a checklist than something cohesive. So many things just felt way too sudden. Animation was clunky, storyboards and drawings were disappointing even putting aside my previous issues with the artstyle change. This adaptation watch has been very, very rough so far and it is telling that many other series have been bigger talking points than this one this season. The actual characterization elements weren't terrible since the source itself is good and this test is more than decent in the manhwa version, but it wasn't put together or used effectively in this adaptation.

Lil better than the last one but not by much. Wangnan was dope here tho, he was the saving grace. The portion with Viole and Love were too rushed.

It was better than the last episode and I can see now that the studio is saving the budget earlier on in the season for higher priority scenes which explains the inconsistent quality, but I'm in it for the long haul regardless.

Why do they change the story so much? Violet never accepted allies, Wangnan and his team got accepted as well because he tricked Violet, why they didn't mention anything about it? I don't miss the coffee can but damn at least keep what's important.

This was probably the best episode so far. We got to see more of Wangnan’s character, and the theme of betrayal was really highlighted this episode. I bet Bam is really relating to Wangnan since he was also betrayed by someone he loves. And we finally saw Khun at the end of the episode! I can’t wait to see more of what he has been up to next week. (8.5/10)

normal episode, there was the end of the arc and Wangnan receiving more focus, I like the character, even with his somewhat strange presentation, I believe that we will no longer have that level of animation from the first season since the studio changed, but we can be content with That's it, I want more episodes that make me remember WebToon and be happy

Prolly the worst episode so far. 3 Exposition dump flashbacks, pacing all over the place. But the top bad spot goes for the “forgiving” of Nia’s murder. It makes no sense, there was no effort in the character work necessary for what happened actually fly. Maybe replace all the exposition flashbacks and cover Ja’s earlier experiences in the dungeon. But no, Its just cheap and randomly, Its not even given the proper time to process. Just blergh.

Really starting to realize how bad of a studio decision this was. At least we get S2. Hopefully S3 will have a more experienced studio? It's sad to see the unique stylization and interpretation of Siu's style in Season 1 gone

This was easily the best episode, but the change of studio (are they relatively inexperienced I wonder?) is still hurting the overall production in a *huge* way. Glad to see Ja Wangnan finally get some decent character development, though. I do like him.

This one did look slightly better than the previous episode, but yeah I’m starting to see now that this season is hurting a bit in the production, there’s still some very nice looking scenes of course and it’s by no means terrible, but it certainly leaves something to be desired. Besides that tho, a lot happened in this episode, including the current test ending with Viole accepting teammates after all thanks to Wangnan’s interruption of Viole’s test, and it was a great move by Wangnan because otherwise Lurker would have gotten away with his scheme.

And speaking of Lurker, RIP Nia, she had quite the brutal death, wish we could have seen more of it but what we got was good enough, and I’m honesty really surprised Wangnan let Lurker live but I also get why he did, it just left us with a bit of an unsatisfying end to the test. Viole and Kang got some pretty badass moments in tho, I thought Yihwa was about to be out for a minute there but Viole yanked whatever the hell that was out of her swiftly lol. And it’s a shame to hear some stuff was skipped but it is what it is, I don’t really feel confused after finishing the episode, except for maybe the Khun tease but it was cool seeing him again even if it was just for a moment.

One of the biggest things I love about Tower of God are the outfits and the drip of the characters, but the studio couldn't even bother to match the clothing & hairstyles of the characters in the manhwa...smh. RIP boy scout Khun.

Welp, the fighting animation still has a lot left to be desired. The emotional intensity of Wangnan crying for Nia's death was definitely lost in the horrible directing, framing, and pacing of this arc, but it looks like they just wanted to zip past this entire 20F arc. They didn't even explain how Wagnan tricked Viole to pass the test. Anyways, the pacing should slow down for the rest of the season so even though I gave up on the hope of the future episodes having any decent animation, I'm at least looking forward to seeing the new characters animated.

I’m sorry man but Wangnan forgiving Lurker for beating Nia to death is ridiculous. Buddy gave this long ass speech about Nia’s death and then just power of friendship/talk no jutsu’s him after Lurker betrayed his employer’s son and killed a defenceless girl? Change the culture AFTER you kill that mf 💀 or at least beat em up some more.

Narratively I somewhat get it because seeing Wangnan forgive lurker made Viole open up and think back on how he was betrayed by someone he loved.. and restoring a little bit of his faith in humanity. But still don’t like it. Happens way too soon

The transition from Viole’s challenge against the test taker to the whole hallway fight felt really awkward too. Pacing felt off in general this episode. I did think the arm devil transformation scene was cool and that is really a terrifying ability. Penkin’s OST as usual made that a very hype moment.

The test proctor hating FUG and then working for them unbeknownst to himself is some nice irony. Poor dude’s literally right next to his worst enemies and don’t even know it.

It’s crazy I was literally just thinking to myself when Khun was gonna show up because I remember him being one of my fave parts of the first season. Hopefully we get to see what he been up to next episode.

@Dovahkiin092 Yeah. I don't remember it being so corny. It's been years since I've read it though. The forgiveness happened WAAAAY too quickly. Like, Nia's body hasn't even gone cold and the dude's been forgiven for coldblooded murder already. wtf???
Anyways, not a fan of using sob backstory as a reason to forgive a killer. Especially if the asshole just brutally killed a KID basically for fun!

Well that episode was definitely better than the last one. The pacing was a bit better however I'd feel as if I'd never read the webtoon I wouldn't know what the hell was going on.

The episode was a moderate ok in everything However it's execution in making me feel for the characters was pretty weak which has been on par with all the other episodes. Its like they're dropping all this character trauma on us all at once instead of sprinkling it in through out the episodes. The fighting choreography was lame too. Every fight looked like it was going to start out cool but then it cuts immedicably to someone else they say for 30 seconds then we cut back to the fight and it pans to someone on the floor.

I really do wish this was better, I think up until a certain point Tower of God was a pretty good Webtoon.

This was horrendous. I really can't stand the yellow guy justifying beating the kid to death over not being like him. Apparently the show didn't skip anything so them going over it and eating barbeque while celebrating they succeeded after the kid got beaten to death was also the same in the manhwa :D

Oh boy, this just keeps getting worse with each episode. Everything is just getting buried in dirt. Characters are ass, animation is below average, dialogues are stupid, overall it's just a massive letdown and the part with Wangnam forgiving his friend's killer was just the most braindead thing.
Didn't think they could make this worse than it was in the previous episodes but it seems like they can.
Guess I'll try to continue watching with a sliver of hope that this maybe, just m a y b e will get better.

Wangnan forgiving Lurker actually had nothing to do with trying to get Viole to open up to him. Essentially he's forgiving himself as he knows in the future he will commit much more heinous and violent crimes than Lurker to climb the tower.
