Series is off to a flying start, literally.
Also, Obunai should seriously consider changing her family name to abunai.

Cute first episode, but I didn't really get a gist of what the show is gonna be about, is it just cheerleading? I trust P.A. Works however and their anime originals. I was getting Love Live Superstar vibes which I like.

Why the hell is everything outlined in Red? It's very distracting to me personally.

Nothing jumped out to me about this episode other then these girls are defying gravity and logic lol.

It was quite interesting and I liked how colorful it looked, although the cheerleaders' acrobatics at the beginning looked a bit strange.

The characters are interesting, such as Anna Aveiro Nakamura do Santos Cuccittini, who I imagine must be related to several football players—there's no other explanation. Megumi, with her condition of being in a wheelchair, adds a unique element. However, Obunai and Kanata are over the top with their gravity-defying feats.

I'm not particularly sold on this yet, but count me intrigued with a premise I haven't really seen before in anime, which is cheerleading and parkour. A really colourful show with a lot of movement and energy, and just very chill vibes in general so far. Seems like your typical CGDCT show but just because it's unique, I'll stick with it for now.

It was strange. I didnt really like it.
What about that colors? Anime is too colorful and the color combinations are strange like on LSD.
And also there is strange plot, like seriously - parkour?

But i liked the character design, the girls are really kawaii and yuri moments *_*

I think its just not my thing.

It's rather annoying to watch those outline glows with different colours on each character.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Anna's characterization is quite reliable as a Brazilian. In informal and friendly meetings, it is common for women to greet people they know and those they recently met with a hug and a kiss on the cheek (some kiss up to 3 times, one on each cheek and repeat on the first).

When I was in high school, a Japanese girl came to be our exchange classmate for a few months. On her second day, she was in the hallway with the other girls waiting for class to start, and as was customary, as the other girls and boys in the class arrived, they greeted the girls with a kiss on the cheek normally, and As she was there, she also got a kiss from everyone who arrived, even those who hadn't spoken to her yet. The Japanese girl turned as red as a tomato in embarrassment, and later she told her new friends that she was shocked because in Japan they don't hug or kiss people to say hello, and that for a boy to kiss a girl on the face is only if they are dating. That day was funny lol

Anna will have to win a difficult battle to be able to kiss Obunai haha!πŸ˜—πŸ˜—πŸ˜—

It's bait again, jfc.

But I'm interested in a cheerleading-focused anime. It's enough reason for me to stick with the show.

Also the black hair girl isn't just doing parkour, that's Spider-Man physics right there.

It looks so so, and the colour scheme looks weird. It's not as experimental looks wise as Girls Band Cry froma few clips, but the weird way they coloured the characters make you think of GBC

I don't expect much, but I enjoyed it better than Pseudo-Harem. There's potential in it by virtue of these characters who may surprise us. I say it will be a nice, comfort anime, a 6 at least but could be a 7 when it ends.

Not a fan of the color design. Some scenes are fine but sometimes they also toss on this brightness filter or something and combined with all the clashing neon colors and constantly changing highlights, I'm finding it unpleasing to the eyes. It's like they're trying to be unique to standout because this probably wouldn't if not for it.

Parkour girl's superhuman abilities also feel so out of place.
@Paul

Yes I agree with you
Also Not a fan of those neon colors and red outlines

And that parkour girl too
Her skills are a bit
exaggerated.

First episode made me gag from the nostalgia cringe.

From the art to the writing and production standard this is literally a de facto Love Live spinoff. The problem with this is that after watching 6 various seasons of the franchise I personally know the if you seen one Love Live, you've seen them all. Definitely a skip for me as I'm 1000 percent sure I'm not going to be missing anything.

Obunai Suzuha. Today as well, the kuudere-maiden passes above the (not-so-)tall gate without pure, angelic smiles on her face. Clad on her pure body and soul is lightly-colored school uniform. The pleats of her skirts are disturbed, and her blue sailor collar are fluttered, since she runs and does parkour. That was Ojou Girls Academy.

I mean, she's from a catholic ojou-sama school, with sailor uniforms nonetheless.... And the other students seem to be very ojou-sama-poi as well. I gotta make the reference, right? Too bad they didn't greet each other with "Gokigenyou" tho.... wwwwww

Great 1st EP, as ever, PA rarely misses. Really don't understand why the low score tho...

PS: BTW, is "Obrigada" actually correct? I thought it was "Obrigado"? (I did capoeira for 2 yrs, so I smh know some Brazillian-Portuguese vocabs. Just some tho.)
Moreover, Cuccitini seems rather Italian than Brazillian/Portuguese. Or was it actually a legit Portuguese name?

One of the brazilians watching the show here, Obrigada is correct, but Obrigado isn't wrong either, depends on the speaker's gender.

If a girl/woman wants to thank you for something, she says obrigada.

If a boy/man wants to thank you for something, he says obrigado.

Edit: as some people posted on this thread, her surename is a mix and match of footballers surenames (messi, cristiano ronaldo, ronaldinho and a japanese player), however, cuccitini and her other surenames could be seen in brazil, as there are plenty of descendants from many countries living in brazil.

too many Brazilian stans here just happy their country is in anime, but get this...their rep is a blond hair-blue eyed white girl and shares Japanese and Italian surnames...

Now im not gonna make any assumptions but for those who knows anything about Brazilian demographics or Brazilian history in general knows that the odds are very high that her family doesn't have the best historical or international reputation in society.

@chenfeng Hi, brazilian here.
I understand your confusion as it's a stereotype made by movies, animes, etc. Brazil have a massive cultural diversity and if you go to the south states (Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul) for example, most people are white, blonde, blue/ green eyes due to a lot of imigrants from Germany, Italy, etc. Brazil also have the biggest Japanese population outside Japan so no matter how a character appearance is represented in a show, it's correct. It can be white, black, "pardo" (brownish tanned skin), asian, lebanese or whatever.
Regarding the surnames, it also depends, as said Brazil have a massive amount of immigrants from all over the world, so even a surname like "Hreisemnou Malichwski" is not uncommon (mine is Bettencourt for example).
Ana personality is on point as well as most brazilians i've met (basically everyone i know), are straightforward, gives two kisses (one on each cheek) to say "hi", even if you don't know the person, we don't consider it rude, unpolite or sexual by any means, but i get it why foreigners find it weird xD.
Anyway, hope i've helped to reduce the stereotypes and have a nice day.

@argeliam oh there is no confusion for me at all, i am decently educated in world history and familiar with Brazilian demographics, history, and geography, i mean after all, that's particularly why i brought it up... i think due to an unfamiliarity with my specific English regional dialect you just don't understand what I'm referencing and why its unusual to see in this genre, mainstream anime, and media in general.

@chenfeng Indonesian here. Such behavior also prevalent in Indonesian audiences as well. The mention of "Nasi Goreng" in Hananoi-kun last season, the house keeper from Kakushigoto being a Javanese, Yuuta's dad from Chuunibyou working abroad in Jakarta, etc, all make the Indonesian anime fandoms go brrrr. wwwww

Kinda cringe, I know, but that's the curse of being in 3rd world/developing countries, I guess. wwwwww

Spoken so much on social networks such as Twitter, where I first heard of the anime, this show looks promising for a comfortable watch, though it doesn't really demonstrate its clear objective. However, when we are presented to those 6 very different girls, we can see there's a lot more to be added. From solving Shion and Suzuha's obviously unresolved past relationship to seeing how the hell Anna and Nodoka became friends with such distinct personalities, there's much to unpack in this anime, and I say that I'm here for it. The animation and CGI are also very good, but that's not important.

Furthermore, as a Brazilian, I feel the need to comment on the joyful precision of the character Anna Aveiro Nakamura dos Santos Moreira Cuccittini as a Japanese Brazilian girl with her warm hugs and sudden, exaggerated kisses on the cheek that makes a humorous scandal among the extras on the background. We know it's kind of stereotypical, but it's just the way the Japanese see us and our culture, and that is just enough to please our country's anime fans.
