The first battle.

Well that went to all hell pretty much immediately lol. I don't really blame that one girl with fish fins as ears tbh. She came in here thinking that it'd be pretty much smooth sailing going in, everyone seemed to have thought that it seems lol, but then she saw that one guy die in front of her face and yeah.

Let the final act of the battle begin!

This is definitely a turn-based JRPG material.

Fish eared girl was freaking out because she based her whole personality on bull dude and lost him. Once she imprinted on someone cool like Belle she was alright.

This World is SO complex. Definitely not your typical D&D Fantasy World and I love it for that. Never Thought I'd see Martial combat formations arranged like a symponthy orchestra. It didn't work so well, though. The perceptions of good and evil are definitely different too.

This show remains middling at best. This was okay, but but I hate setup episodes, and I still don't understand the name of the show. This feels totally disjointed and honestly it's extremely forgetable.

It's not as bad as the recent Unnamed Memory, but it gives me similar vibes with it's quick, disjointed and weird showing. The only reason I haven't dropped it, is because it's got cool/interesting concepts. I don't mind being left in the dark for these sorts of things initially, but I would at least appreciate some time to breathe. The fact that it's only ten episodes long, we're already half way through the season, I can already tell it's gonna stay a disappointment.

I like the idea that mermaids have minds that reflect those of others, seems like Benedictine picked up on Belle pretty quickly and that was cool. I suspect something similar happened to Tiziano.

The Schwert Muzik gets going against the monsters, though they soon get overwhelmed by Tiziano, as is the case for Benedictine trying to come to terms with the loss of her fellow partner Gordon, and Kitty the Cat making a way for Belle to use her sword and cut down monsters. Despite mermaids being akin to mental parasites, she thankully recollects her soul and moves on with the gang, though Adonis has quite the heat that their one and only enemy is the god that they need to defeat.

Within the midst of finding the exit route with the help of Underdog conductor Gin Buck, him and Tiziano joined hands not just to teach the Topdogs a lesson, but also to Adonis for past regrets. But joining hands between the Topdogs and Underdogs, that's quite the approach to taking down Tiziano, and Gin assumes his conductor role while he holds Kitty the part of director, and Gwyn the Libretto a.k.a scriptwriter, for another round to face evil.

We're officially halfway, but the plot is the only thing being of disjoint.

This world is so bizarre. But especially so in regard to its concept of 'good' and 'evil'.

I'm starting to get used to the setting and dreamlike style. This was a pretty interesting episode.

I was fascinated that while the English translation says Top Dog and Underdog on the name labels, the kanji very clearly say Justice for the Top Dogs and Evil for the Underdogs. And when they're talking to/about each other they keep talking about good vs evil. I wonder if the Top Dogs/Underdogs thing was invented for the translation? Or chosen in order to make some other play on words work in a way that it normally wouldn't in English?

Curiouser and curiouser.

If you ever thought line infantry formations were stupid, you have freaking orchestra formations here!
What's the purpose of this circus again? Line infantry at least made sense due to poor accuracy of guns back then. What is the excuse here? The show makes a big deal out of who is doing what in orchestra even at the end of the episode? But WHY? They can't cast spells without music or something? People like Belle rush out and slash and stab like usual anyways, and I didn't notice them getting "buffed" or something so wtf? It took a swarm of spiders to dismantle the entire thing, and supposedly disciplined troops began to rout and get slaughtered like untrained peasants. What a shitshow that was. Makes 0 sense why they can't do the fighting the normal, traditional way, without high heels and dumb light uniforms.
I don't know how well this was explained in the novel but anime does a terrible job here IMO. It's like they're trying to look special and that's precisely why the whole horseshit orchestra thing was implanted.

I actually think Benedictine imprinting on Belle is pretty cute! The thing that stood out to me this episode is once again, the world building and magic system. They really carry this show (and the music)!

This is the first episode I would classify as genuinely good. I have the feeling that even the formation the army was in was planned from jump to fail. The moment a fight came up the formation broke... against some spiders of all things.
The Tiziano issue of playing god makes so much sense considering it was confirmed before that she was a mermaid. We saw what happened to Benedictine and how she broke, then re-imprinted to Belle, and it's such a nice parallel to Tiziano, considering Tiziano didn't seem to bounce back quite the same. Who did she re-imprint with?
The minor twist with Adonis and his family being outsiders. Of course he wouldn't have as many qualms teaming up with evil. The question I have is, why couldn't his family repel the evil people from the Katakombs before all this mess happened, or are they opportunistically allowing them to stay for protection?
Lastly, this ploy to kill Belle by the god, sending her into a losing battle, seems to have backfired. How much will this experience speed up his downfall?
