Let the assassination begin.

The suspect who attempted the assassination might target Sisbell next because she has an astral spirit that can reenact the past and identify the suspect. Unit N07 goes on high alert and decides to hide at a hotel, waiting for an audience with Mirabella. However, a large explosion occurs near the hotel. When Sisbell tries to reenact what really happened, someone resembling the "shadow" from the reenactment starts attacking her.

Was hoping at the very least that one episode would be done by this shit studio first, then another by SILVER LINK, but seems we're stuck with these for the long run... just great. That aside, things are actually getting somewhat interesting with this star spirit monster or whatever. Fight animation for some reason looked... good? Wtf? Surprised me to see that. Doesn't mean the fight itself was good though., Was pretty boring and generic expect for the said good animation.

They've won the battle so far. But can they win the war in the end?

Its unfortunate but the most deadly threats are always the internal ones. If anything gravity magic is perfect for A&a missions. Flatten the target to paste before they even realize they're under attack. The battle between Iska and the grav mage was pretty good both in the action and showing Iska's resolve. Alice as always was as sharp as ever by freezing the bomb. Alice's little interrogation was pretty amusing. While this coup attempt failed it also did well to show how much is happening behind the scene.

This anime surprisingly became quite a bit better
S1 was semi cringe half forgotten about it, trope this trope that
still tropes but it feels alot better somehow, the biggest part that improved are the visual improvements by quite alot
Feels alot more alive and more work put into it this time around.

The Royal Palace's coup d'état has Alice surprised, but other than Sisbell being safe in Iska's hands, finding the culprit is as ever the more important, which dealing with someone proficient in Astral arts, it has to be a traitor within the Three Houses, and the witch is revealed to be Sisbell's sister Vichyssoise, representing the House of Hydra, being an astral mage that would level with Iska in terms of his Black Swordsman name.

On Alice's side, having to deal with the same coup from the ground, it didn t take long for Iska to subdue Vichyssoise, leaving her in the hands of Alice and Rin, thereby exposing the true face of the House of Hydra, and even the House of Lou under the Masked Lord to ready for their next plan. Even then, Sisbell's exposure to Vichyssoise is more than the monster which Iska faced, it's clear that she's faced even worse, and both her and Iska are practically the same boat.

It's the same generic battle ending one would expect from the show, though what's next?

Good episode, I like where the story is going but the animation seemed a bit lazy to be honest.

@StateofOhayo The animation was tragic, and I was so looking forward to this episode too. Are the animators watching the Olympics or something? Please just skip a few weeks if it's necessary.

Holy upgrade production wise, did all the budget go into this one? Major improvement over the first two episodes. The Iska and Vichyssoise fight looked so good and Vichyssoise’s design and movements were so fluid. I should’ve known when the OP got skipped shit was gonna go down.

Alice and Iska both shined today in their respective fights and we got some big reveals about just how deep this conspiracy runs. Figured Masked dude was getting framed by the guy in the white suit, but it looks like that’s just the tip of the iceberg and this election is going to get intense.

No way Alice shows up and sees Iska’s taken out an assassin only for her first concern to be about him leaving her naked đź’€ She may be a lil slow but it is commendable that despite her position Alice remembers every single soldier who serves her family’s name and face. If she was a ditzy typical royalty, this episode could’ve gone totally different.

Idk what’s under that one girl’s eyepatch but it don’t look good. I wonder if it’s related to the pitch black monster that sisbell broke down talking about. That scene was really well animated too, I hope the show looks close to this going forward because the first two eps were rough

I knew Hydra were sus. Animation looked better this episode. I wonder if the woman who pulled the gun on Alice was also Hydra? Astral mages don't use guns and Alice asked her if she knew what the Imperial Army called her. I wonder who the monster is?

Now this was quite the upgrade from the previous episode when it comes the art and animation, the action scenes in this one looked quite awesome along with a handful of non-action scenes, I guess they’re putting the budget where it matters that’s for sure, although I hope it can be more consistent going forward. The episode itself was also a great one, looks like Sisbell didn’t need to go back to the palace to find the assassin, she came right to Sisbell and can apparently find her when she’s using her detective astral art, and it’s none other than the character we got introduced to last time, Vichyssoise.

I’m ngl tho, I thought she was much prettier before she transformed lol, it wasn’t a bad look but she’s definitely what Iska and Sisbell were calling her, a monster, and with the power to spawn black holes to boot. However, Iska was able to handle her accordingly after taking a few blows, those swords of his always got his back, as well as Alice who assisted for the final blow after dealing with her own trouble, I wonder who that woman was that attacked her tho, shooting a gun at an explosive instead of detonating it was a bit reckless I must say lol. And thankfully Vichyssoise didn’t stay in that monster form, as she reverted back to normal, nude, and plummeted into Rin’s golem which made for a hilarious scene where she didn’t catch Iska, I wasn’t expecting that so it got me lol. And you gotta love how Alice has her priorities straight by asking why Vichyssoise was naked first and foremost, never change Alice.

The first season was a drama with moments that were humorous, this season is lesson of a drama and the humor feels forced.

Also, the art and writing have a different style that changes the whole impact of the anime.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

I'd really kill to see Inaba Yuki directing without being rushed to hell, you at least still see he's putting effort to making it look good lol. Same thing happened in Kamikatsu.

@IzanaSolos Who knows? It seems there are more than just 2 factions at play here. And I have a pretty good idea of who the girl with the eye mask/blinders is. At least I am working a serious hunch from that last conversation.

The animation still sucks but was at least bearable this time around. I don’t remember Alice being this thirsty for Iska. I remember Sisbell was, but whatever, not complaining about that I guess. Hopefully episode 2 was a one off

Man, the production is quite poor, and it makes the story seem a bit stupid too. Nothing is exactly explained and everyone is talking to themselves.

The episode felt like random segments poorly put together. I've heard at least 3 different bgms play for only a few seconds before rushed off into the next scene, making it feel out of place.

The only thing that's close to acceptable was the battle scene, which was still not great as a whole. Iska got randomly knocked over and they didn't show how it happened. Then the supposedly black hole attacks turned into mere stone bullets was quite dumb as well. The whole battle can be summed up as follows, enemy appears and did a menacing transformation, Iska got hit once and called enemy strong but he won't lose because of plot armor, then enemy proceeds to get one-shot.

And to the some of your saying the animation was acceptable and even good, episode 2 sure has lowered your standards to what an "acceptable" anime should look like. Or you're just coping because you're trying very hard to enjoy the story.

The animation improved a bit. I guess they used some of the budget that would be allocated for episode 2 for this one; that's why episode 2 was poorly animated.

The politics is interesting but the rest feels forced...

So it's a faction politics arc, nice but it's so ugly it turns good things into ridiculous content. I was laughing hard at the animation when they were running away together while I probably was supposed to be worried about what's gonna happen. The animation really butchers the tension I guess I'll probably start reading the LN to have the story in a decent format.

Jhin quite cautious, then princess carry her, nice he get more screentime.
Wonder why monster form transparent.
The group's animation seem clearly better this episode at parts.
Alice so funny. Mismis vs chonky abs Salinger lol. Want to know more Salinger backstory.
Zoa all weirdos, but cute fox. Elletear vibing like Echidna.
That a lot of handholding Sisbell.

If Iska wouldn't be your usual dense goody-two-shoes character, we would have an actual romance at our hands at this point.
