It looks like after all this time, they finally got the main players and pieces together for awar. Unsurprisingly, it's been builidng up with Ike trying to deliver his promise to unite humans and demons to co-exist.

This episode/show still has that bit of Lilith/Satie chemistry although seems to be much less tense and more played on humor now. Still, felt the pacing was awkward this episode.

No why was that fried rice cooking montage so satisfying? Now I’m hungry as hell. She cooked literally lol. That’s definitely a good meal to fill up the hungry orc/demon army. I love how Satie wants to get Lilith fat too so she doesn’t have to worry about her as a love rival 😂

Finally time for the battle with the humans and as expected with the production quality of this show, it was underwhelming. BUT, the human general literally killing his own men with the catapults to take out the demon’s defences was horrible. You want a mutiny and to lower morale? That’s the easiest way to do it. What a pos. As we’ve come to expect from these sort of shows, the humans end up being more of “demons” than the demons themselves.

Wild cliffhanger to leave off on

Truly the anime of the millennium. Sad I won't see such peak story and animation for the rest of my lifetime most likely.

Bad-guy not using magic until 3rd round, wonder why not the 2nd. Ike is quite powerful to make such a large barrier that blocked so much power, and required multiple of their top mages to neutralize portions. I would assume the mages know full well Ike's power could delete them if he wanted, at least vibe I'm getting.

Sadly, just like most zealots, Bad-guy's forces are unfazed by fratricide. Any level of brain activity would have meant bad-guys forces would be less likely to push. I'm more surprised because they seems to back-off at first to them getting crushed by huge rocks.

Bad-guy also appears to be doing a frontal assault, I wonder if the other 3 factions or whatever are covering other fronts, or more central location, or attacking from the rear/above when time comes. Also Ike holding off on the riflemen, I can only imagine to keep element of surprise.

3/5, really made me want fried rice :<

It is a tiring anime to watch, also when I see the CGI I think I'm watching Overlord.

Seeing Satie cooking a new recipe was totally pleasant and wonderful. Thanks to Norfolk system implemented by Ike, they can provide themselves with a lot of important resources and the food seems unlimited.

A battle between demons and humans started and it seems that humans are better in this moment, but we’ll see how the situation will evolve. Ike must have a plan and make Ivalis the first city where demons and humans can live together.

I wonder how the reaction of others from Demon Lord’s army would be if they found out that Ike is actually human. It would generate a huge shock!

On the other hand, OP and ED themes are amazing, they chose the songs well and they give good vibes about an adventure anime.

How stupid the main character looked, who used only shield magic, so stupid that I checked if it was in the manga as well and it turns out no it's only in the adaptation.

I want to keep believing that, as Ike said, his plan is to raise the enemy's morale and then crush them with everything they have. Because he just stood there doing nothing, using his magic barrier even though he knew it wouldn't work anymore. Also, they still haven't used the firearms they have or deployed the flying monsters against the enemy's siege weapons.

It would also be interesting if the humans living in Ike's city helped the demons against the enemy army, since no matter how much he fights for equality, there are always some who oppose it.

And even with "demons" in this world, it is the humans that look the most evil, especially their leader, knowingly killing their own kind, because he doesn't about anything other than gaining glory through a blood victory.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

This Episode was not the best for me, it must be said. I hope the next one will be better. Man, that human commander firing on his own forces, if I were the other Kings in the Alliance, I'd pack up & go home. Leave this POS to his fate.

This is the first episode I've actively disliked. First half with them puttering about talking and frying rice was fine, but then they got to the actual battle and it was the worst thing that a battle scene could be: boring.

The most interesting was the giant absolutely turning soldiers into paste with boulders, but then it immediately went down under a hail of arrows on the scale of needles compared to its massive body. Otherwise it was politely waiting for each to make their moves before ... well, other than shielding Ike did eff-all, and that continued after the mages (which they put in the front ranks for some bizarre reason, but it worked out because they were only seen once and were never targeted, whew!) stepped up to put holes in the shield.

I just wanted it to be over about as much as the soldiers murdered by Mr. Evil Mustache Trope.

um....

what?

Why isn't he using the Guns?

or actually... in previous episode he said they shouldn't use magic so it's easier to rebuild...

But... like 90% of the enemy is on the open field away from any building... just nuke them...

Not to mention the walls are majority damaged again anyways... so you still have to rebuild regardless...

.

Should just use the guns to kill the human magicians, and bam, instant shield back up...

.

What exactly is MC's plan anyways?...

It feels like he wants to somehow surround the enemy with the elite troop and attack from all direction or something...

But pretty much at the cost of everyone at the front line dead...

.

But yea... should have just nuked them and rebuild the open plain... by planting like a couple of trees that were destroyed... LOL

If he truly wanted to build a town that "human and demons" can coexist then why don't they have any human army? not just the demons, to fight the battles? Don't you think if the human want a peaceful life, they should fight for it as well?

I think this is the first episode I'd actually rate as bad. My overall impression after watching is just disappointment. Disappointing animation despite the use of CGI, disappointing story progression. Feels like the whole episode could have fit into half an episode length but they drew it out unnecessarily. It's like we're watching the anime on .75x speed. Actually, if they sped things up 1.25x and just made the episode shorter I'd probably like it more.

Yeah I'm also wondering what Ike's plan is because they're currently getting routed thanks to the scumbag commander that would sacrifice his own soldiers just so that he can finish this battle faster and eat his dinner in peace. Speaking of dinner, the fried rice looked pretty good that Satie cooked earlier on.

Ike should really man up and use some powerful attack magic already, hes letting his people die for his own moral compass.

Anyway, that cooking scene had better animation than 7 deadly sins fights LMFAO

Terrible battle for MC's side.

He should really defeat the commander first.

But he said he has a hidden plan...?

Welp, can't wait for what it is.

P.S. Satie finally getting more cute screen time is the best of this episode.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Compared to previous episode, it's not that good tbh. Idk why Ike keep using barrier spell that already encountered by light magic from human reinforcement. If his goals is reduce the damage costs and victims, he should think the next step to counter that, not just spam barrier skill and looked clueless.

Also at the end of the episode, he look so angry to human reinforcement leader, i hope next episode was fire and he show his badass side again.

I love the opening song. I wonder if that's why I'm still watching. Just for that song.

That said, this episode was fine. The fried rice subplot was weirdly paced and written, but nothing intensely annoyed me this episode. It was fine.

Ike and his demon army preparing for battle against the humans being outnumbered in strength, so they definitely need a strategy. On the other hand, Satie wanting to help boost the morale of the army by making food...fried rice in general (Uncle Roger's gonna have something to say about that), but it looked tantalizing and delicious that the demons just ate to no end, especially against the smarts of Lilith wanting her to get fat lols.

But soon, it's time for war by having the Alliance of Kings intentionally raid Ivalies to focus all efforts within the city. A test attack from the humans against Ike's protective barrier, though the mages soon turn the tide to their side to advance the attack. Even at close range against the city's walls, it's a ruthless attack no matter the distance, allowing the humans to breach the city.

What will become of this long-standing war? It has only just begun.

I thought Ike had finally done something impressive when he cast that shield wall to stop all the incoming siege fire, but then the human magicians negated it effortlessly. And he just kept casting it a couple more times like a moron instead of, I dunno, trying to take out any of the siege weapons. This show is just constantly making him look like an inept dolt aside from his one holy kill.

You know you're doing a bad job when the most interesting thing in your big siege battle episode was cooking rice and the sniping between Lilith and Satie.

The war begins and it's already quite brutal. Ike sure didn't like what the enemy commander did so it's time for him to make his move. Big fan of fried rice myself btw.
