According to Anime Corner and a poll they conducted across social media, Akane is beating out Kana in the Oshi no Ko community at this point. It's a close match between both, to be fair, but it looks like Akane has definitely won everyone over this season.

As a huge Akane fan since her very first appearance, this makes me very happy

@Gator Season 1 advantage. It will take a while to overcome that (in fact I am not sure how common it is for that to happen).
You can't really go by just that

Just keep watching, there's not a single boring part in s2, trust.
But after s2, s3 prob would be quite a bit worse in terms of plot/ pacing.

Also considering we have so many episodes left, we prob would get to see how Ruby "changes" too in the later half.

Akane was compelling and attractive as soon as I saw her. Of course she easily grew on me as things developed with her. That said my favorites are still Ruby and Kana, I laugh and smile more with those two. Akane comes in at 3rd place for me.

I'ts also worth noting that here on Mal, Kana still leads by roughly 8100 favorites over Akane. That could change.. but I am doubtful.

I still like Kana more. She’s got a more feisty personality and is seemingly more mentally stable than akane. Like a ride or die is cool but I think I’d prefer someone who would tell me not to go kill someone who is in the upper echelons of the entertainment industry.

Also between kana and Akane being shipped with Aqua I’d choose Akane. In terms of favorites, still Akane. I find Kana a bit annoying, and while I can’t blame her for liking Aqua, I just don’t want to see them together. The truth is, Aqua doesn’t have much interest in romance but I feel like he still has more chemistry with Akane

This season focuses more on Akane so she deserves the spotlight and good to see her increased popularity.
During S1 Kana was way more popular. She won more of these "polls & awards" As she had more spotlight with 2/4 arcs focusing on her. She is still genuinely most likeable character in the anime and deserves her popularity.
I heard the next arc will be about Ruby and she gets same amount of popularity but I doubt it
For me Kana>=Ruby>Akane.
But this entire best girl war is toxic af, with people shit talking other girl😂 like Messi Ronaldo rivalry. weird af..

I really dislike people with an unjustified ego who would keep shouting even during general conversations. Kana was a character who irritated me since her appearance and although I know she has a lot to her personality, it's just Akane's charm and her peaceful aura makes her very appealing. No doubt about the fact Akane deserves it for me but I can understand if people like Kana more than Akane. They both have their pros and cons but it's just Kana is more of an annoying brat to me.
