This was easily the best episode, but the change of studio (are they relatively inexperienced I wonder?) is still hurting the overall production in a *huge* way. Glad to see Ja Wangnan finally get some decent character development, though. I do like him.

This one did look slightly better than the previous episode, but yeah I’m starting to see now that this season is hurting a bit in the production, there’s still some very nice looking scenes of course and it’s by no means terrible, but it certainly leaves something to be desired. Besides that tho, a lot happened in this episode, including the current test ending with Viole accepting teammates after all thanks to Wangnan’s interruption of Viole’s test, and it was a great move by Wangnan because otherwise Lurker would have gotten away with his scheme.

And speaking of Lurker, RIP Nia, she had quite the brutal death, wish we could have seen more of it but what we got was good enough, and I’m honesty really surprised Wangnan let Lurker live but I also get why he did, it just left us with a bit of an unsatisfying end to the test. Viole and Kang got some pretty badass moments in tho, I thought Yihwa was about to be out for a minute there but Viole yanked whatever the hell that was out of her swiftly lol. And it’s a shame to hear some stuff was skipped but it is what it is, I don’t really feel confused after finishing the episode, except for maybe the Khun tease but it was cool seeing him again even if it was just for a moment.

Wangnan's three stages of grief over a completely unnecessary murder:
- Immediately: Anger
- 5 minutes later: Forgiveness
- A bit later: Being all smiles & forgetting Nia ever existed

The animated fight sequence is lacking flow, especially baam vs love. All the fights with Horyang, were surprisingly animated well. Just hoping it gets better, but overall I'm still enjoying it.

@LegatoC They cut a lot stuff unfortunately. There was more grieving in the webtoon.

One of the biggest things I love about Tower of God are the outfits and the drip of the characters, but the studio couldn't even bother to match the clothing & hairstyles of the characters in the manhwa...smh. RIP boy scout Khun.

Welp, the fighting animation still has a lot left to be desired. The emotional intensity of Wangnan crying for Nia's death was definitely lost in the horrible directing, framing, and pacing of this arc, but it looks like they just wanted to zip past this entire 20F arc. They didn't even explain how Wagnan tricked Viole to pass the test. Anyways, the pacing should slow down for the rest of the season so even though I gave up on the hope of the future episodes having any decent animation, I'm at least looking forward to seeing the new characters animated.

I’m sorry man but Wangnan forgiving Lurker for beating Nia to death is ridiculous. Buddy gave this long ass speech about Nia’s death and then just power of friendship/talk no jutsu’s him after Lurker betrayed his employer’s son and killed a defenceless girl? Change the culture AFTER you kill that mf 💀 or at least beat em up some more.

Narratively I somewhat get it because seeing Wangnan forgive lurker made Viole open up and think back on how he was betrayed by someone he loved.. and restoring a little bit of his faith in humanity. But still don’t like it. Happens way too soon

The transition from Viole’s challenge against the test taker to the whole hallway fight felt really awkward too. Pacing felt off in general this episode. I did think the arm devil transformation scene was cool and that is really a terrifying ability. Penkin’s OST as usual made that a very hype moment.

The test proctor hating FUG and then working for them unbeknownst to himself is some nice irony. Poor dude’s literally right next to his worst enemies and don’t even know it.

It’s crazy I was literally just thinking to myself when Khun was gonna show up because I remember him being one of my fave parts of the first season. Hopefully we get to see what he been up to next episode.

As a reader of the manhwa, I felt that there was a lack of emotional impact compared to the original series, especially with Nia's death.
@Dovahkiin092 Yeah. I don't remember it being so corny. It's been years since I've read it though. The forgiveness happened WAAAAY too quickly. Like, Nia's body hasn't even gone cold and the dude's been forgiven for coldblooded murder already. wtf???
Anyways, not a fan of using sob backstory as a reason to forgive a killer. Especially if the asshole just brutally killed a KID basically for fun!

The handling of story elements and characterization is so bad this episode, I am resisting dropping it. I could have beared with the bad animation and lack of interesting elements, but this is sheer absolute pile of shit.

Well that episode was definitely better than the last one. The pacing was a bit better however I'd feel as if I'd never read the webtoon I wouldn't know what the hell was going on.

The episode was a moderate ok in everything However it's execution in making me feel for the characters was pretty weak which has been on par with all the other episodes. Its like they're dropping all this character trauma on us all at once instead of sprinkling it in through out the episodes. The fighting choreography was lame too. Every fight looked like it was going to start out cool but then it cuts immedicably to someone else they say for 30 seconds then we cut back to the fight and it pans to someone on the floor.

I really do wish this was better, I think up until a certain point Tower of God was a pretty good Webtoon.

This was horrendous. I really can't stand the yellow guy justifying beating the kid to death over not being like him. Apparently the show didn't skip anything so them going over it and eating barbeque while celebrating they succeeded after the kid got beaten to death was also the same in the manhwa :D

Oh boy, this just keeps getting worse with each episode. Everything is just getting buried in dirt. Characters are ass, animation is below average, dialogues are stupid, overall it's just a massive letdown and the part with Wangnam forgiving his friend's killer was just the most braindead thing.
Didn't think they could make this worse than it was in the previous episodes but it seems like they can.
Guess I'll try to continue watching with a sliver of hope that this maybe, just m a y b e will get better.

Wangnan forgiving Lurker actually had nothing to do with trying to get Viole to open up to him. Essentially he's forgiving himself as he knows in the future he will commit much more heinous and violent crimes than Lurker to climb the tower.

That shounen manga style of 'forgiveness' is kinda...lame but necessary development. Wangnam is a scum like Rachel was; deceiving and playing the victim so people would help her with her quest of climbing the tower. Though Wangnam in contrast, he will deceive his way up the tower but he wants to bring others with him and change how the tower works.
Viole now is seeing another perspective to his quest of reuniting with Rachel, though I guess it's even more of dilemma now, with what exactly he will do when she sees her again.

It's so unnecessary to kill the little kid. The dude's misfortune caused by his boss is no excuse for beating an innocent kid to death.

And how could the bastard be forgiven? I don't get it. I'm sick of the typical cliche that the protagonists cannot get their hands dirty.

Without the disgusting issues above, I would have given this ep a 4/5.

And what is Wangnam exactly? He has the ring with the kings symbol on it and the show is entitled return of the prince. Is he the Kings son somehow with no memory or something?

I read this part of the webtoon years ago and I liked the story enough to keep watching now, I just hope there will be some improvements along the way (sure... let's keep hoping...)

@Ri-iel Maybe they handled it better in the manhwa, but it all felt incredibly rushed here. Nia was a literal kid whose only wrongdoing was lying to protect someone who was basically family. Wangnan's initial anger and reaction was expected, but forgiving someone who not only consistently made his life hell, but also killed a kid for absolutely NO reason at all??? And then to go on and party/celebrate without any sort of mention of Nia again??? It just felt like a pointless character death.

If Wangnan really thinks he will do worse things than everything that guy has done in the future, then yikes.

The Tower of Betrayal. Ja Wangnan had some development, applying the iconic technique of many anime protagonists, solidifying his place in anime history. Although, personally, I would have liked him to lose an arm, Ja Wangnan understood that there will be worse things as he climbs the tower. Farewell, Nia-chan, may the force be with you.

I hope they start giving more development to the other characters as they are still very flat and uncharismatic compared to those from the first season. I think the most interesting ones are Ja Wangnan, who seems to have the interest of both the test administrator and FUG, and Horyang, who hides his identity as a demon (does he look like Ishigami or is it just me?).

Anyway, Khun finally appeared, the best character.

At first I thought: "wait, is this episode being rushed?" Few minutes later: "Hell yeah it is being rushed". They really skipped too much. The scenes that should be emotional like The devil in the right arm or Wangnan's griefing or the forgiving scene with the Lector were not emotional at all. Also they did Yinhwa and Prince dirty this episode. In the manhwa it was prince who received a botlte that should power him up, but he was too cautious to drink it himself so he knocked the Yinhwa's door and gave it to her, which caused her to get mindcontrolled.

And probably the most disappointing part is that they didn't include the explanation as to why Wangnan and others got in the team lol. And how Wangnan tricked Viole.

mmm, I guess it was a good episode at first, Kang is cool, but it all went to absolute shit when Wangnan decided to forgive Lurker over killing Nya (I swear, these fucking korean names...), I HATE when dumb shit like that happens, like, he killed ur only friend just for fun and after u made an entire plan for revenge, you forgive him? Shiiiiiiiiiit.
I though Wangman was going to be a good second protagonist, but now I see I was wrong, what a let down.
Also, Nya was like "uuuuuh that grandmaaaa", bro u telling me he gave his life for an old lady that didn't even got a proper name??? This writing really know how to suck lmao
