Now...The Credits Rolling These Last 2 Episodes Makes Sense
| @Rayane-47 There are 3 routes in the game, this start Route C, Part 1 adapted a mesh of Route A and B, which has the same events but A from PoV of 2B and B from 9S. There are still 2/3 of the route left to adapt, so of course this would be the prologue. Also this is one of the more impactful scenes, there will be others, but like don't expect every single episode to be as emotional as this, most will be just sad, then it should RAMP UP towards the last 2-3 episodes. | I wish the directing went ham on this episode, making a glitchy mess of the visuals like in the game, and I wish there weren't as much flashbacks, but it was still a very good episode, among the best really. |

From a meta standpoint, my understanding is they wanted to use footage of A2 to promote the game but trick people into thinking it was 2B with a different outfit.
This was rendered pointless in the anime, where they not only spoiled it in the OP but even in promotional material before the season started airing.
You could say there are tropey reasons to include it but the hair cut trope is monumentally overdone in anime and video games to the point that it comes off as incredibly lazy writing and I'd have hoped Yoko Taro wouldn't fall back on it.

| I've been pretty impressed with this cour so far and thankfully wasn't disappointed with seeing my favourite part in the game. While I recall the game feeling more impactful, the episode did a decent job with the time it had. I'm curious if anime only viewers found this episode to be a massive turning point. Even though the story would likely be less impactful, I did cope a little thinking that 2B would make it. Considering what the OP shows, I knew I was coping hard. I hope they add more interesting character backstories, similar to Lily's episode in cour 1. |

| This episode was amazing. I was waiting for it since they first announced this anime and damn they did not disappoint. Everything from voice acting, animation, music, directing was perfect. I couldn't help but shed a few tears at 2B's death. Damn, that 9S scream gave me shivers. I think the rollercoaster of emotions has just begun. |

| 2B's death felt even more tragic knowing about the E-type units. She lived her life performing her duty at all costs, killing the one she loved countless times, only for it all to have meant nothing. Those flashes of 9S during her final moments were an absolute gutpunch. She was thinking that they could never be happy, but realized 9S made her happy all along. Successfully adapting what is essentially the central climax of NieR:Automata is no small feat, and yet they pulled it off. This might be one of the best episodes in all of anime. |
| 9S releasing his inner "I'll defeat you, Muzan!" but with 10x more rage. Ah, yes... more depression. That's how I like my NieR:Automata episodes to be. Now the show/game's main face and waifu is gone for good. Puppet play at the end with 9S looking for 2B for decades :'( |
