I have to admit that this was kinda boring compared to My Dress Up Darling which was a Seinen series with romantic subtext. The censorship didn't bother me that much, but I'll give it a couple more chances before I commit to watching this.

When will they learn that censoring what is originally in the source material will only turn the adaptation into a lesser version of the story.
If the goal is to gain wider reach and boost manga sales, wouldn't it be a false advertisement for ppl thinking the source is SFW...only to be blasted with some of the most lewd manga panels out there, so what's the point?
It will just gain backlash from manga readers and anti-ecchi anime-only (assuming they exist lol).

It's just 6 for me.
I will wait how they will handle his childhood friend... if they toned down that part i doubt it's worth ecchi tag.

Ririsa found another way to perfect girl after Rin(Rin is way way way better though)

The chemistry of main duo is already good, quality animation too.

Don't really care about how ecchi it is. As a fan of My dress up darling it will be a good watch hopefully.

I don't mind them not showing nipples, but this is pretty heavily sanitized, they could have got away with more.

I thought the two mc's were cute and funny. Plenty of the expected typical genre tropes were there. ( If it ain't broke... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
I do not expect anything groundbreaking or epic, just just a fun series to watch. Hopefully, the rest of the season will be as enjoyable.

Well, knew it was gonna be censored honestly. JC Staff hasn't stepped in the nudity line yet, and probably will never as they've only done ecchi many years now.
Still, damn. JC Staff bringing out their inner Doga Kobo. You love to see it. Also 24 eps is pretty nice. Looking forward to it.

This is one I actually knew about before seeing that it’s getting an anime, and damn I was blown away, what a first episode this was. First off, yeah I figured censorship was gonna happen, it is what it is, there were still some great scenes here with Ririsa stripping and putting on her cosplay, as well as showing it off, only one I’m kinda mad about is that we didn’t get the glory of her whole ass but at least Okumura certainly got a great seat to witness those cakes, the man had resolve in his love for 2D girls but was not ready for his waifu to become real lol, he didn’t even last the first episode, can’t blame him tho, some probably found him annoying but I like him as MC so far.

And I gotta say, Ririsa is already plenty cute on her own without the cosplay, but that’s probably partly why the cosplay is so powerful, she’s definitely the perfect cute otaku girl, almost too perfect, but it is anime after all. And of course I gotta point out the similarities to “My Dress Up Darling”, but it’s looking like this show isn’t gonna focus on the making of the cosplays as much as the cosplayers themselves, and that’s cool because it’s something I have a lot of respect for, I’m excited not just for more beautiful babes but also the cosplay goodness.

And we got a very nice OP and ED with some great jams and visuals, and I loved the power combo of Akari Kitou and Kaori Maeda in the ED, pretty much every Akari Kitou song I know is a banger, and they both play Love Live girls so I can’t help but love it. I’m definitely looking forward to the 2 cours of this to come, Fridays for the rest of this year are set with harem greatness!

After "Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen" another manga that finally finds its anime adaptation 5 years later.

Okumare is living his dream and was quite relatable in many places - less the whole "I don't want 3D women", but to be able to talk so passionately about your hobby with others is something you really want.

Since I really like cosplay and go to a lot of conventions, I'm all the more pleased that after "My Dress Up Darling" there will now be another title with the theme. Even if there are parallels in the theme, "Nitengo jigen no ririsa" will take on a very unique role.

It's good that we've taken the 24-episode route here (which is rather rare for comedy / SoL series), because this is a story that really gets better over time. I remember that chapter 161, which came out last month, was one of the many highlights (but the anime won't adapt that far.)

This is really one of the titles where it's recommended to read the manga in parallel (or better: in advance), because it's worth it.

OP and especially the EP are really good.

Winter and spring seasons 2024 were already strong, but summer 24 really delivers one banger after the other - and the first big weekend is still ahead of us.😃

To be honest, I'm already looking forward to spending the rest of the year with Ririsa and Okumare.

Very good beginning episode! Masamune and Ririsa are made for each other. They must become a couple in the future! Very good ecchi in the good mood. Hope romance to enter the scene and make what we have even better. Masamune's reactions could be less hysterical and more natural, making it even more enjoyable.

This was censored A LOT not a scene or two, many times, some can even say that this can affect the plot.
Really sad, if you are gonna adapt a ecchi to censor almost everything why do even adapt in the first place?

This anime has "plot" and that's about it to differentiate it from the rest. It hits all the usual tropes right off the bat. Loser otaku everyone thinks is gross [check]. Suddenly very attractive girls who are totally into said loser [check] Unbelievable situations but characters in compromising positions [check] over the top reactions [check]
I'm not expecting a ton of real development or a rich story. Its an otakus wet dream, nothing more, nothing less. And it is well suited to its target demographic. Which is 100% fine since that includes me, I just don't harbor any illusions it's anything more deep than that. Its 2024. Be honest with yourself, there's no need to be ashamed anymore.

@NiJaS Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru and Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman. seems to be better. Ririsa may have some hard times competing against Marin and Akari. By the other side, I think it is early to jump into conclusions.

I know this will sounds weird, but this anime will get good starting from episode 6 and after. There's a reason why the first screening in Japan shows episode 8-9 instead of episode 1-2 like in the US. Because every layer of the anime staff understood what's the manga's selling points are. Please stick to at least one cour to see if this is up to your taste. Thank you.

Yeah this reminds me of My Dress Up Darling which I really liked but this has its own spin although hearing how censored this is compared to the manga is a shame, especially when the show Gushing Over Magical Girls' anime was more revealing than its source material.

Anyway, I'm curious to see how this plays out and Okumura's plan to have no romantic feelings towards Ririsa since she's a 3d character will most likely backfire as she is cute and does impressive cosplays (plus he got to cop a feel lol).

Not a bad first episode. This is the first anime I watched where I read the manga first, but it was awhile ago so I had to refresh my memory. They didn't cut very much, but the ecchi is very toned down and they cut some of the more erotic scenes which is unfortunate. Overall a pretty good episode though.

I absolutely loved this episode. Really Validated my hype. I love all the little details in the ED, like Nagomi only looking at Okumura and Mikarin doing her best when he shows up. Also Ashford Chronicles is done like it was a 2000's anime, well done. They nailed one of the top ten scenes.

Knowing that they weren't doing beams of light I kinda expected what resulted. But on the other hand they saved plenty of time not covering all of 2 and 3. I just wonder how many get filtered before we move into the next phase of the story.

Reading the manga alongside this and it looks like they toned down the ecchi in the anime (yet again). Which pisses me off.

When Ririsa takes her clothes off in the manga you can see her full body but in the anime, the frame pans down and cuts out right where her panties started. This doesn’t make any sense as a few seconds later she literally shows her panties to both Okumura and the viewer. They even showed her nipple peeking out from under the flaps of her cosplay in the manga but - of course - the frame pans up from directly where they should be as if the animators want to tease and piss off the guys who’ve read the manga.

Minor details yes, but once again this feels like censorship meant to cater to the anti’s. I have no idea why they couldn’t keep it consistent with the source material.

I have mixed feelings about this. I read 2.5 a long time ago and got up to date with it when it had about 30 chapters, and I kinda just forgot about it, but I liked it a lot. Hearing it got an anime got me pumped up, but after watching this episode, it felt off, and after re-reading the first 3 chapters it's apparent. They censored A LOT. Not just a panel or two, they censored PAGES of stuff. If we pretend that isn't a major issue, then the rest of the anime does seem to look great, and the fact it has a 24 episode run time is really surprising.

I know this manga isn't focused on it's ecchi, and I believe they tone it down later in the story, but when censoring is this blatant and apparent it feels very unsettling. I'm just gonna re-read the manga and catch up to it, while also watching the anime weekly. I massively prefer watching anime in general, but alas....

This is my opinion and my experience as well, but I read till like chapter 60ish? At least I know what will happen until the anime finishes, but yeah, this has amazing quality, kinda reminds me of the level they did To love ru with

My guy really got rejected once and decided to rule out women entirely for the rest of his life. You can tell he is in too deep the minute he starts talking about 2D vs 3D women and immediately tries to prove that Ririsa isn't a 'true fan' the moment she comes in. This show was absolutely not afraid to show what it is about in the first episode. The fanservice levels were turned up to 11 from the outset. Full changing scenes, panty and boob shots, accidentally falling and grabbing boobs, really everything you could ask for. I think what really makes or breaks a show like this is how cute and likeable the girl is. In this case Ririsa is very outgoing needy in the sense that she seems to desire male attention - a perfect fit to get some solid revealing shots. I really did find her cute so as long as they can keep things feeling fun and fresh then this show definitely has potential to be the perfect kind of trashy ecchi. In other words, yeah this episode was full of the tropes you would expect from ecchi but luckily I am a massive sucker for those tropes. The ED was also perfect; I love a good dance sequence as and ending.

Guy got rejected by a girl he liked AND his own mother, which cuts a helluva lot deeper. Still an overreaction, but an understandable one.

Animation quality was decent, not great, not terrible. I'm liking the recent trend of anime girls who don't get murderous over clearly understandable accidents, whether it's an unfortunate hand placement when he stopped Ririsa from faceplanting, or in Days With My Stepsister when dude accidentally grabbed a bra when helping her unpack.

Insane character development reached in just one episode. They managed to achieve what other series do in 12 episodes and 99% of the time it looks fake, here they haven't even tried. It was nice to see comparison screenshots between source material and the episode, but heavy censorship is evident even without seeing those. What's to see in this series? Tripping over the dust onto mc, different costumes, beach / onsen episode, them getting into some dumb argue over whatever, most likely dumb, reason, etc.? Sounds like a good material for bingo cards. For a first couple of minutes I hoped I'll see a character dedicated to anime characters, maybe getting a bit interested in real ones just to be hurt by those so he would fortify his aversion to real women, maybe build up some hatred, which would sound much more realistic and would be pretty interesting to see, but it seems like we'll be having a wish of a random guy fulfilled by Santa(?). I didn't also like the 'comedy' aspect in the anime. If I feel cringe watching supposedly funny events, this is where I think it's very bad. Maybe I'll see a couple of next episodes, however I don't think I'll like the series.

It’s exactly what I expected from this anime, though I can’t help but feel a bit of secondhand embarrassment for Masamune's statements about rejecting 3D girls. However, I envy him for finding someone who shares his interests and also gets to see Ririsa's sexy cosplay. I’ve seen some panels from the manga, and it seems they’re censoring some things, which bothers me, but it's to be expected.

It was a good start and, surprisingly, it will have 24 episodes, so there will be plenty of delightful and tantalizing moments for quite some time.

Ahh no wonder the music when Ririsa cosplays for the first time sounds like something from JJK, it's made by the same people

Now my brain has a headcanon this is just Itadori in another life lol

But for real, that scene is peak. The music, the effect, Okumura's reaction and internal fanboy cry. I know how it feels when you see a cosplay so good it bends your reality.
