Before I get misinterpreted, let me say this first: the adaptation's been great and I know Im just being nitpicking here.

According to the LN, in episode 4 there should've been

I've just rewatched a few episodes. Not that it's that big of a deal, but imo since it serves the purpose in the LN to
Without it, the impact is less emotional than I expected and Masachika ends up kinda awkward ngl.

But maybe it's just my LN experience prejudicing me and playing tricks on me.
Im really curious to know how anime watchers feel about this scene.

I think the scene was great. Earlier episodes and scenes already helped me understand the kind of character Alya is, and what it means for her to receive help for others.

The Light Novel (or Manga) is basically always better than the Anime because it's the original.

Classroom of the Elite is another good example for this.

What it feels like to be a COTE fan… It’s ALL missing internal monologue 🥲

I haven't read the light novel but have watched the anime and I liked that scene, but probably that scene may have been more detailed in light novel and it's possible that from story point of view it's better in light novel. But anime has its own charms, it's not fair to compare those two although it's probably impossible for someone who has read novel and watched anime.

I wholeheartedly acquiesce with you.

There are quite a number of skipped monologues in the anime, and while almost none of them were as significant as this one, I wish they added her monologue in this scene. It would've really helped to put into perspective just how much he means to Alya.

For the anime-onlies, that would've been a necessary addition.

@SAMESOULS_319 Almost any adaptation is eligible in this sense, to be honest.

I have read LN many things have been cut because of anime they can't show everything in anime from LN

Yeah I noticed that too

There are also other dialogues that were cut or shortned, one example being Yuki fantasizing about Masachika and the president dating like some BL romance.

I don't really understand why people want the anime to copy the LN in a visual format. Why not taking anime as the adaptations they are and everything this format can while a novel could never. In this scene we have some pretty nice camera angles + the voice acting and Alya's face changing in one second when Masachika gives her his hand. Yes we didn't have the monologue but the anime spoke her feelings visually.

Maybe they will show from her perspective what it means at a later point in the show, there are scenes in wich she reminisces about this scene and maybe it will have a greater impact her toughts about this in another scene.. thats my hope tho

Interesting. I've not read Makeine's LN. Iirc there's a thread on Makeine talking about a similar subject, yet I thought every episode of Makeine is great. So it's just another case of LN bias it seems.

I knew Im inevitably gonna get misinterpreted. Im not posting to criticise LN adaptations. Many of my favorites: Violet Evergarden, Monogatari series, 86 etc. are all marvellous LN adaptations. And thank god if it's not for it's adaptation, I wouldn't even have found this series.

It's just that like the "Anime and LN" topic on Makeine, I think after reading the LN, this scene felt like it misses something for me. In the LN, it felt much more impactful. Which I wonder would it be the case for anime(only) watchers too.

Well, apparently the prior episodes have already done a great job, there is no such problem.

I don't follow Makeine. What I meant is that anime and light novels being 2 different medias relying on different narrative process there has to be times when parts of the light novel don't get adapted.

Personally considering there is way much more people watching animes than reading novels I think most anime watchers aren't fond of novels narrative process which means they would probably not feel any kind of impact by seeing what happened in the novel.

No need to get angry over someone expressing their opinion, and also including monologue doesn't mean they put in some frames and dump buckets of text over it, like look at the Ruby dancing scene from episode 1 of 【OSHI NO KO】 , or Melt last episode, it was monologue too, so Monologues can fit Anime too

I'm not angry at anyone? Why would I get angry at people I don't know?

+ What I said here is not that monologues can't do well in animes but that copying the source material when producing something for people who wouldn't read it anyway is pointless.

I mean I don't know them and they don't know me. I just need to block / mute and live my life just like if nothing happened. No need to get upset or think deeply about people I don't know.
