Ramen Akaneko

After four episodes I feel like it's the time to share my impressions on this series, I think we saw it's going to go on in the next episodes and, possibly, future seasons.

So, this is a simple cute slice of life series about this Ramen restaurant owned by cats and this girl who starts working part-time at the restaurant, the interactions between her and the various cats are always entertaining and wholesome, and we are starting to see more human characters that are friends with the owner, voiced by the amazing Kenjiro Tsuda (also props to the lawyer guy, voiced by Takaya Kuroda, the va ... for Yakuza's main character Kiryu Kazuma).

We are not talking about an anime of the year candidate but it's a solid slice of life anime, with the only downside being the obviously low as hell budget, that brings a lot of slightly jarring cgi animated characters when not in close-up shots, but you easily get used to it, this is not a series that needs a blokbuster level budget to be enjoyable.

I guess it's a 7ish out of 10 series, gonna define the score once it finishes airing, but I'd recommend checking it out...

It's not for the unclean shonen/isekai/mecha/romcom masses. This series is certainly underappreciated, and deserves a better score than it's showing now. I imagine there were a lot of one and outs for this. Which is kind of sad, as it's been getting better by the week.

I can imagine lots of people got turned off by the artwork. It's a bit cartoony for the cats, but otherwise it fairly well done. And while they look cartoony, it belies that each of the cats has it's own succinct personality. Those are both well written and nicely acted. Hayami Saori is Krishna, the noodle making tiger. She ... is simply amazing as she makes the character run the gamut from meek little kitty, to terrifying huntress. quite believably. Is there anything she can't do?

This is completely episodic, so if you were looking for a plot, you might be disappointed. But the individual acts of each episode are written well enough. What might be the best writting is saved for after the credits roll, with the Daily Akaneko. They go back and look at each skit during the episode, and give you some more info. Usually in the form of backstory, or the consequences of what went down. It's a nice litttle gimmick, and I always stay to check it out. It adds mightly to the overall of the series.

This is SoL of cats running a ramen shop, with a touch of light comedy. There are some gags but they don't beat you over the head with them. There is some subtle stuff that you may very well miss, if you are not paying close attention. This is not for those who are multitasking or who have ADHD. It deserves your undivided attention.

This series is as comfortable as having Kitty jump up in your lap, curl up, and take a nap. I'm so enjoying it. It's not perfect, but it is soothingly entertaining. If I was grading, this started out a C+, but it's worked its way up to an 84/100 solid B now by ep 5. And it seems to be getting better as we get to know the cats and the side characters more. Don't get caught cleaning the cat box. This ain't no turd, and deserves at least a good 3 eps test.

An underrated series from a pretty brand new studio,E&H Production which previously animates Ninja Kamui(which kinda flopped despite the hype on TikTok,not much to say about that didn't watch it yet).Back to the series,the story is basically set in the world where Cats can talk.Yes,they can talk,walk on two feet and cook.So,these cats have ramen shop,they need worker,they hire human.
The premise is basically the daily life of this human girl and the cats.It got that basic slice of life recipe in order.Warm and kind main character,a little bit spice of drama in the quarters of season and ... the wholesome relationship among the cast.Not the best but one you should try for.



As for the animation,it is pretty crappy but not bad.The usage of 3d animation is done well and looking pretty smooth despite the model looks like it gone straight out of Nintendo Switch games.Can't be say much from a new studio and presume,not much budget has been put here.



Well,despite saying that,I guess their budget gone at voice actors pretty much.While the main character which is Yashiro seems to be voiced by a new coming VA without any roles yet,others are voiced by a pretty well-known voice actors which I'm sure that if you're an anime fans,you will at least recognize some of them due to their popular roles in recent and some of old anime.These peoples I try to say are Tsuda Kenjiro(Kento Nanami),Hayami Saori(she got tons of role,just this season,I think she has at least 3 main roles),Kugimiya Rie(Kagura and Taiga),and lastly Noriaki Sugiyama(Uchiha Sasuke).Oh,and of course,can't be forgotten,our legendary Dragons of Dojima,Kiryu-I mean,Kuroda Takaya is also here(I just play Yakuza game series recently so,seeing him here kinda feels like what a timing).



Overall,this is a good series that you could like visit once in a while mostly when you feel stressed with life.You need therapy?Don't go for therapist,Ramen Akaneko is here for the job.
