This manga is a personal favorite of mine and while I can acknowledge its flaws. I'm talking about having it take place in just a couple of years or sidelining some cast members, it has many of my favorite scenes. This manga has always been able to hit the emotional beats compared to other series that I'm just not used to. Take for example the newer emerging shonen that focuses on spectacular choreography or cool-looking paneling for fights. My hero uses its stunning artwork and messaging to portray emotional sequences in a way that just hits for me. It feels like a love letter to ... superhero media in a heartfelt way and thats why I love it so much.

This is a review for the first 9 episodes of season 7.

This season didn’t start out as exciting as the last for me because while the starting episodes were exciting they kind of gave way to multiple episodes of build up to the start of the final battle. I do like that the writers thought of ways many characters could be included and be relevant to aiding the heroes. But my one complaint is that there has been some noticeable padding. Episode 7 had close to 9 minutes of recapping stuff and my hero has always had this problem but it’s getting a bit annoying. ... Thankfully the last few episodes have gotten into the real start of the war and the battles. The first was really emotional and really reminded me of some of the fights from earlier seasons with the Todoroki’s, shoto fighting deku or Endeavor against the nomu. It was so good it’s one of my favorites of the series. Now we have another battlefield coming up and it’s looking to be really exciting. The animation this season has also been pretty good, not as good as season 2 or 3 but better than the last season or even the first episodes of season 4.

Overall I really think this could be a really good season with the fights that are about to get shown since we are done with buildup.

One really good episode does not make a below average season suddenly really good.

This season was a training arc where nothing really happened. There some funny moments here and there and character exposition but it really felt like Naruto filler. All of these episodes but the last one are almost parallel to the filler stretches of Shippuden that were pretty forgettable. That’s fine when there’s going to be an entire canon arc of action in between these filler stretches of a weekly anime. But this season is only 8 episodes and almost all of them are like this and one episode feels like it ... pushes the story forward. It’s kind of an insult to the viewer when their time feels wasted. I saw people saying this could have been a special and that for sure can be case. I think people would like this part of the story way more instead of padding for the final episode.

I don’t think the anime has fallen off or anything but this was disappointing.
