Really beautiful artwork and animation. The story is realistically paced and the characters feel very human and not exaggerated as might be expected in romcom anime series. Watching how the main guy interact with his friends and develop should be a treat, maybe if they potentially progress to something further than just friends. Hopefully it doesn’t just turn into a straight up harem though; I would be disappointed by that. I found the first girl, Anna, annoying at the beginning, but some of her actions are actually charming and sweet. I believe this show will be one of the gems of the season.

Like many others, this anime has convinced me to make an account on this site just to rave about Frieren. From the start, it subverts your expectations- the demon king has already been defeated. Instead, this work is about self-discovery, memories, and a connection with loved ones from the past. It does a great job by revealing more about Frieren's relationship with her teammates (essentially family) and how they continue to shape her to the present day.

This show isn’t just a slow slice of life either- it’s a mixture of comedy, romance, action, and drama. This isn’t an isekai- the characters fully belong to ... the era in which the anime takes place, and the magic is believable and tastefully woven. Common tropes aren’t used to bash watchers over the head- there aren't any insufferable main characters who are arrogant beyond belief, nor overpowered characters who aren't invulnerable to anything. The lore builds upon itself layer by layer, and is such a pleasure to watch both it and the characters develop over time.

Not only is the plot and story itself good, but the art, animation and soundboard design is also phenomenal. You can tell the animators poured their hearts into not just faithfully reproducing the manga, but also beautifully animating scenes that may just be covered by one frame. Such detail can be seen just by observing small details such as the characters' hair in the wind or the way they smooth out their coat.

As of the time of this writing, Frieren is currently on the highest-rated anime on MAL- do yourself a favor and see for yourself why me and so many others give such high praises for this masterpiece!
