I'm don't understand how this manga has received such a low rating, personally I think it's a very enjoyable read and it definitely deserves a higher score

the story is great, the monkey idea is something i haven't seen before and the fact that they are in the mountains adds a nice touch to the horror. There is also the fact that problems such as starvation and dehydration are shown which makes it more realistic

It's nothing special but it's not bad either not much to say really

The characters are realistic, when dehydration kicks in some are selfish and persuade others into ... joining them, and the MC is likeable and the way he tries to interact with his peers but fails is weirdly gap moe-y.
The reason character isn't 9 or 10 is because it does feel like some of the hatred thrown at our MC is unwarranted and seems slightly forced, they pick on him for no reason even though he's really nice. But the redemption from this is the fact that the side characters who are nice to the MC are likeable and kinda make up for the bitchy selfish characters :P

Enjoyment: 9
Really enjoyable overall but i do wish english translations were slightly faster but apart from that there is 0 problems (aside from the minor ones mentioned earlier of course :3)

if you're looking for a fun read check this manga out! It isn't the scariest manga out there but it's atmospheric and will give ya a lil' spook at least! I hope people rate this higher in the future!

The first few chapters give off the vibes of a simple, happy, fun adventure-type manga, but things take a huge turn.

Story: 8
This manga has some of the most satisfying deaths of all time. Great storyline with a lot of plot twists.

The panels can be quite messy and the art isn't that great compared to other mangas that I've read, but the story more than makes up for it.

No super smart or super good lucking, average people stranded on the mountains which make the manga more credible and relatable. You might at times relate to some of the characters.

Brutal but fun, the concept of monkeys as killers was new. I wasn't sure at first, but then found myself binge-reading the manga, it's pretty fun.

Why did I even continue reading this? I have no clue.

It's really bad, everything in the plot is weak, the characters die here and there and I don't even care, I have no attachments for them, I barely know them and I don't care if they get murdered. I don't really see the point in reading a supposedly "survival" manga when I don't really care if the characters are gone.

The vibes of it is supposed to give us readers chill, and frighten? but I really giggled at some parts because it was just so silly, the idea of monkeys with weapons attacking humans on ... a mountain was funny.

Monkey Peak is a perfect example of survival horror done right.

The environment itself is something I wish to see more of from horror manga like this. I think the harsh, unforgiving mountains of Japan make a fun and interesting setting for anything that's trying to invoke a sense of urgency in the reader. They set series like this in the tried-and-true island setting, which I find very overdone and lazy at this point.

Having the main cast stranded in desolate mountains, unreachable yet so close to civilization, is a wonderful idea that really sets some tension for the series and leaves you guessing about ... if help will come or not. They're so very close to salvation, but harsh conditions and the ravenous monkeys plotting against them make it seem so out of reach.

I know the idea of monkey men may sound a bit off-putting or too childish or silly. I completely understand that. The way it's done in the manga, though, makes them seem like much more of a threat than you think. They are an insurmountable wall, much like the mountain before them. To go against them seems like going against nature itself. They are completely in over their heads, despite outnumbering the monkeys by a great deal.

It certainly doesn't help that the monkeys are smart, and no different really than a human in their use of weaponry and their knowledge of the mountains.

To further add to their troubles, as one would expect in a series like this, people in the group become selfish and form cliques to better their odds of survival. When water and food supplies slowly dwindle, things get fierce and tense, as they go as far as setting one another up to die or simply abandoning one another in the mountains.

It's a really fun read and a very good survival thriller. The art also is wonderful and really helps to set the tone of the series. It just feels very right.

I recommend this series to anyone into horror or survival manga, especially if you are into both. I think it's amazing.

I think that this was an enjoyable read. Lots of betrayal and mystery and most of the main points get tied up at the end. That said, I do think there are some problems, mostly within the last 20 chapters or so. I won't spoil specifics but I will say that there are things that just don't make sense at the end. Things are revealed that explain parts of the main plot, but many of these explanations raise new questions that go unanswered.This ranges from illogical reasons for people doing things, to poorly explored/explained characters and phenomenon.

Overall, it's a good story with lots of drama ... and mystery that I would recommend reading, especially if you like the art style or general themes. I just think that the ending brings the whole thing down more than it could, which is a bit of a shame in my opinion because the build-up to it is really quite good.
