I’ll be honest, I did not like this manga within the first few chapters as everything was predictable and cliché. However, each character fulfills their role splendidly well: either making the readers hate them or grow a strong attachment.

Though, I must point out that most of them are semi-one dimensional as they have a fixated outlook for the protagonist, which is frustrating. Where I truly find excitement in this is the combination of the jam packed fight scenes with good art and the needed bloodshed/failure. Not only this, but it particularly does a well job at garnering our empathy and evoking emotions (I cried ... a little).

I’m interested to see where this manga goes next, as it has a strong foundation that has been established in the mid-chapters. I hate saying this but as the manga progresses the better it is getting.

PS: This is similar to Black Clover and Mashle, so if you enjoyed those then you’d love this. I dropped Mashle around chapter 70, but I don’t think this will share the same fate.

And you probably wont like it if you dont like: slowly releasing chapeters (every 1-2 weeks), fantasy, super plot heavy mangas

Anyway i recommend reading at least the 1st 20-41 chapters to get a hang of the manga and see how you like it

It's clear from the first chapter that this is a story about a character who hides his true power. But even though I normally skip those, the worldbuilding was interesting enough that I wanted to know more. The art style is also gorgeous, and action panels are this manga's strong suit. At first, the story was so predictable that I wanted to drop it, but then the stakes became high in chapter 13, and I was pulled in again. Alas, I've reached chapter 26 and it pretty much drained all my hope.

As I said, I quickly became invested in the world, its power system and ... history. But the more important aspects—the characters and plot—are quite a mess. And it all comes down to our protagonist, Will Serfort. We're supposed to feel bad for him, but we also know that he's much stronger than everyone else. It's sad because he could have been a great character if he relied on his experience and knowledge instead. We get to see that he can be a good leader who supports others and comes up with strategies. I can also respect his goal of being with the girl he loves, but given how powerful he is, it makes no sense that he hasn't already ascended the tower.

I find it strange that Elfaria is labeled as a main character because she rarely appears in the manga, and we don't know much about her. Will's only two friends are both in love with him, and his mentor wants him to hide his power too, for some reason. None of the secondary characters is very complex, but at least they can't do everything on their own. The story reached its peak in chapters 13-18, which I genuinely enjoyed. But key moments from this arc were completely forgotten in the next, and it all went downhill from there.

Despite the title "Wand and Sword", the story doesn't try to prove that knights and mages need each other. Instead, the protagonist possesses special abilities that surpass magic. This manga certainly has some strong points, but the fact that the main character is so overpowered makes it dull for me.

If you like manga like Mairimashita Iruma kun and Boku no Hero Academia, then you WILL love this one. I love it.

Perfeect characters and their developments

Story is not so unique (but what is these days), but the world building is amazing. You might think it will be predicatble at the begining, but it will lead you to something else that you wouldn´t guess.
Charcters are perfectly drawed, MC looks like a weakling, but he´s one of the strongest characters in this universe. Their developmenst are well rounded and so their flaws, sthrengts, their inteligence and I also think, they react normally to the ... situations they fall into. They are still at school and of course sometimes need to depend on their teachers. Otherwise it would be boring.

Genre is typical shonen, normally I dont read shonen manga, but this one caught me right from the begining and it´s still one of my favourites to read.

The story started off promising enough to warrant trying out. But by chapter 33 it's gotten to a point of being inexcusable.

-Shallow character development.
-Terrible pacing.
-Ridiculous powerups that are made trivial within the next two chapters.

But the worst is the story itself. I know this is written by the same person who wrote Danmachi, but dear god. Write a different story plot other than Danmachi and Sword Oratoria. Every chapter I can see what was reused from those stories. The dungeon at the center of the city. The tower that pierces the clouds above the dungeon. The main character who is chasing after a woman as ... their source of motivation. The main character that is constantly looked down upon for being weak or worthless. And the constant beating the character down in the same way over and over again, claiming that it builds character. No, it doesn't. It only builds character when it's in different ways. If they're literally going through the same exact thing over and over again then there is no character progression. Just padding until the author figures out where they want to take the story next. Which leads to the question. Where is this story going? I don't even think the author knows since they're heavily reusing and retelling Danmachi and Sword Oratoria.

I mean come on. Is this a different story or isn't it? If an author can't even compartmentalize different plots in their head when writing then they shouldn't write multiple series at the same time.

To sum it all up. Each chapter only serves to infuriate me more and more. Because what I'm reading is a rip-off of a vastly superior story that was written by this very same author. They just found a way to sell it twice.

This might be the most unlikable MC I've ever seen. MC pretends to be weak and feeble while secretly being the most powerful warrior in the school. MC lets himself be bullied for apparently no reason at all. Why would the MC even need to attend school when he's so powerful? All the students and teachers hate his guts because he's too nice? This type of forced drama is completely ridiculous and ruins the character. This could have been an entertaining underdog story where he rises up after getting bullied, but nope, he is already a god from the first chapter without explanation.
