Honestly, I rewatched this with a friend, and it's even better than I remembered.

The art style is gorgeous, as to be expected by Madhouse. The sound design is amazing, each song and sound effect beautifully encapsulate the mood, the gravity of the situation, and the feelings of the characters. The story it tells is beautiful and they don't hold back or skim over important details. There's not a single boring episode that made my ADHD kick in; I didn't want to look away for a second. The characters are well enough flushed out and very relatable, each of them having their own individual tales to ... tell.

It's well stated (so not a spoiler) that this story is about Frieren as she comes to terms with the mortality of short life races, and she picks up friends along her way. It's a truly sweet story about living life and cherishing the people who live it with you, no matter for how short a time.

The story is the classic "Trapped in an unfamiliar world," but he is familiar with this world. He's been playing this game he is now trapped in for many years. The way the take this basic plot and make it into a real story is amazing.

The art is beautiful. I love how colors always compliment the subject or surroundings. Nothing ever really seems completely out of place in the color scheme, even in this fantasy world. And the sound also fits very perfectly. I watched the Dub because my eyes are bad, but the voice acting is on point and the general ambiance and background ... noises are on point.

Each character has their own story and personality, some of which leave you even more enthralled in the plot as they intertwine and clash. Despite being NPC's, they all have feels, wants, needs, and don't just disappear when the main character walks away. They're almost all main characters in a sense.

I really enjoyed watching this anime and would recommend it to a friend. I was sad when I finished season one, only to realize season two was right there. Whoopsies!

I forgot why I stopped watching it the first time, but right after the first episode, I remembered. It's the plot. The plot is something someone's newborn could have written.

This isn't a spoiler since this is the first episode's explanation for the whole story, and is how you would describe it in a summary of what the anime is if you wanted a friend to watch it for some reason.

When he was, like, 8, a girl refused to date him because he was fat, so he worked out for years to get skinny, strong, and cute so he could move back to town, go ... to her High School, woo her, date her, then dump her cruelly and break her heart like she broke his.

You expect me to believe that someone held onto a grudge for so long? From 8 to his teens, he held a grudge over a girl who didn't want to date him? They also want us to believe he hasn't already found himself a GF since he's just Soooooooo hot?

This plot is ridiculous.

I love the color scheme of the anime, and the sound/dubbing. The characters are mostly 1D and have nothing deeper going for them. They're all cardboard cutouts of the singular emotion the author wanted them to portray. Most of the girls have giant tits, there are only 2 male characters, and one of them is super-incredibly-totally-inevitably gay.

The plot sucks. The characters suck. I regret spending an hour and a half watching this. Give me my time back.

Art is as crap as you would expect. The characters are just as plain as you would expect, and the twist isn't really even a twist, it's just a stupid explanation. They have the classic rapid fire way of speaking that anime does, if not faster. And they also have the classic 'Fade to black' hentai scream that signifies that whatever they were saying 'No' to happened anyways, the character is either about to climax, be climaxed in, or has discovered some terrible, traumatizing information that they just cannot believe.

This is not a spoiler, it's in the title, but I don't like the idea that ... people want us to believe that no reasonable person in the whole school caught wind of the assault going on, involving several victims, and called the police?

There is so much wrong with the plot that I can't even. And I mean that literally.

If you wanna become an alcoholic in one hour, drink every time:
You say "That's not how that works."
See awful body movement animation.
Time someone says 'Atonement'.
There's a plot twist.
The logic they use doesn't make sense.
You think to yourself "Oh, now they're definitely going to call the police, right?"

I like the color scheme of the anime for the most part. The story is a neat idea and could have been done better if - and this is the main problem with this anime - the characters didn't feel like 1d cut outs of expected tropes.

This feels like the anime was made by a sociopath with minimal understanding of people other than: Girls= Boobs, cute, sexy, scheming, submissive. Boys= Tough, strong, assholes, "stoic", badass. They went in with these ideals and applied some shuffle of these traits, along with 'Smart', 'Dumb', 'Average', 'Bad', 'Good', etc. labels thrown in there for good measure.

I had to ... drop the anime when a very easily foreseen twist came along that pissed me off SO MUCH, I had to pause and tell myself "These are teens.... These are teens and they're stupid.... So stupid, I have to forgive them." Then I realized that I was not obligated to forgive, or forget, and just never came back to it. THE END.

Just don't bother.

I give it an overall 10 as it is 100% worth watching. If conflict worries you, season 1 barely has anything for you to worry about.

I think that the main antagonist is an idiot for reasons someone who doesn't think too deeply about it wouldn't care about. The main characters, and the ever growing crew, is very entertaining. I heavily enjoyed the step by step explanation of the science Senku uses in the series, rather than him pulling it out of his ass like magic. I love the explanations that we receive for "Plot holes" that turn out to be well calculated and paced out ... details.

Finishing the first season left me excited to continue onto the second.
