If I were to rate only episodes 1,2,7,8 this would be 8/10, but for some reason someone decided to throw away budget for another 4 (lower budget) episodes with filler. And the last episode went unreasonably hard on animation.
So you get 2 episodes of story, 4 episodes of shounen filler (training, zenitsu beying annoying af, ppls faces melting with emotions,..) and then you get over the top epic finale with insane amount of slow-mo flex.
This season could have easily be a movie or 4ep OVA and I would be happy, instead I dropped it half way thru and just now finished it, surprised it
...
actually had some end other than "Your training ends here MC".
TL:DR - watch 1,2,7,8 and skip the rest, you are welcome

Possibly the best into into this universe (no it doesnt matter, but all the stories of this author have very similar vibe).
So far the funniest, and most consistent story from the author.
I might be biased cause as much as I enjoy Lookism, the fact that drama/comedy/SoL/satire on society turned into handsome teen boys with questionable powers leading life and fighting said organized crime did not make me very happy.
This story on the other hand is very straightforward action comedy about a guy who curses his high school bully into reliving his high school days from the body of the loser.
The story starts as they both
...
occupy the same body, bully as a operator with loser as a "ghost" presence enjoying the torment. The main turn comes when someone who was a bully their whole life just wont take no shit from anyone, even his younger self, who he hilariously glorifies and praises all the time as handsome, cool and strong even at this age, and starts to work out and fight back with skills he got in the future as he still practiced martial arts his whole life. This gives an interesting point of view on the while bullying issue which I wont spoil.
Side characters are great, specially the FMC who is a sucker for strong guys and he special skill "Makeup removing slap" left me in stitches for a long time.

Animation 7, Story 9, Chars 9, Char design 7 (matches the manhwa more, so Rachel finally looks on the outside as on the inside, S1 Rachel was too cute for what she is)
Yes its less unique than S1, but if it means we get to get S3 and more, I am more than happy with it so give it a try for yourself, make your own opinion. The story will pick up...not like S1 was crazy filled with action, not to mention story depth which we didnt even scratch the surface off
For adaptation of sauce with 600+ chapters, following multiple "main" characters sometimes for multiple
...
chapters, diving deep in backstories of side characters that will die in a moment, so much it made me take a break 2 or 3 times already (looking at you War of talks and Cat games) this is still good show and also much better than 80% of current season.
For this show to shine it would need continuous releases like major shounen titles like Narutardo and Wan piss. But I am afraid we wont get it when I am reading reviews of ppl here...

"Beautiful girls and almost useless boy" - 6/10, Animation 7, Char design 9, Story ???
Since I did not enjoy my time, like @XG_OG promised, in his bold prediction about 9 upcoming episodes... I wanna warn you all! xD
Given the authors other works from which I only watched part of one before getting bored, I expected pretty much what I got so far...an interesting mysterious story, thats mainly focused on the MMC+FMC relationship with some action.
I just dont like the exeution:
Char design/animation is pretty good, there is plenty of action and over all the show will probably not offend less critical or experienced consumer.
Issue for me
...
is that the MC is kinda passive...not useless, just not very smart or pro active. And I dont think its fault of the character, but the pacing of the story. It seems like the actions or the lack of them is caused by the need for the story to stretch longer.
You all know those stories where it would be done in 2 episodes if MC was competent, but cause he isnt, it takes 12 to fix his mistake.
Thats how it feels to watch the scenes in this anime, it might be me, but I swear I can see the plot armor getting cooked while characters stand around doing nothing and it feels artificial and bad.
I will give you some examples, so spoiler allert I guess:
1)
MC finds beautiful girl, saves her after she asks for help like any other good boy would. She then attacks him immediately, which he just takes passively, no anger, confusion, he just takes it and eventually defends himself by pulling plot armor he didnt know he had.
2)
MC now knows he has plot weapon, but decides to not use it till very end of exchange with baddie (pun intended), then after pulling out his plot weapon after almost getting killed, he then stands and watches 3rd party (that is also his enemy btw) attack his target and instead of striking them both at same time and saving us like 6 episodes, he watches them scramble...resulting in 3rd party escaping and baddie being back to ready to fck him up.
You might take it as bad writing, but for me this is making excuses to stretch story, and in my experience good stories dont this this, so I'm out dropping this, as there are plenty of good stories I havent watch yet

I see some ppl confused about the plot, as someone who read most of the sauce I decided to write one myself.
BTW...Yes its sauce is manhwa but comparing it to Solo lvling, is similar stretch as comparing Tokyo ghoul to Tensura (cuz manga).
Its by the same author as Lookism which is/was one of the most popular webtoons, and was sadly botched by its anime adaptation, just like Returner magic (its sad only mid mainstream shat like SL and God of HS got quality adaptation, while bein just mainstream mid)
Ranting aside...
This story istn about streaming, its a story about this goofy guy who starts
...
gettin famous by fighting deliquents. It is pretty funny story, I would say comedy 3:1 action, drama and later we even get some mild romance (not too evolved but at least proper human romance, not asexual or ecchi extremes).
Back to the story...As I said It doesnt take that long till things turns into some deeper shit including organized crime.
I dont think the 12ep will bet us there as I dont see those characters in the anime char list, but it should get pretty close, so hopefully ppl will give it a try and we will get S2.
OT: If you get interested in this and you wanna know what you gettin into w/o spoilers, I recommend checking Lookism, or if its too long (it kinda is) and you just wanna get feel for the author go check My life as a looser, its the shortest one and its complete and very enjoyable

Good spin on "that filler action/fun anime this season"? I think so
Animation 8, Char design 8, Plot 6.5, Execution 8
If you noticed the avalanche of bad anime with unreasonably good audio-visual lately (Nanatsuma, Ishura, etc) and were sad stuff with good source like Returner's magic, or silly but entertaining Villainess Level 99 are getting screwed on animation then THIS ONE MIGHT SURPRISE YOU!
We got MC that already stands above most other OP "new life" MCs just by doin what we would all expect, training and developing his skills! Yes he is too OP, but its always used as joke, not plot armor so that makes
...
is fine in my book.
What makes this MC special is also his insane obsession for magic knowledge. And I mean INSANE! (YKYK)
There are already 2 FMC that catch an eye. Yandere-ish beautiful and cool maid. And cute and pretty martial artist on a quest to find hot BF.
Where this anime stands out are definitely fight scenes and visuals, that might actually be it, lighthearted jokes, pretty girls and cool fights, which puts it immidiately above average for
The jokes are ok (its not Konosuba, but I didnt force myself to smile either).
Consider that this review is based on comparison to other anime of this sort and after only 4ep.
It scores this high for me compared to those filler anime like S-rank musume or Chiyu Mahou Machigatta, not main anime like Konosuba or Mushoku tensei comming.

Generic, naive, irritating and idiotic.
Animation 6, Char design 7, Plot 4, Execution 3
Again another adult male MC thats scared of women and doesnt seem to care about his abilities.
Once again makes me question why we mostly only have cringe ecchi interactions or these asexual guys, instead of normal human relationships for the past few years.
If you are like me and saw too many of these things and also get frustrated by incompetent cast then here is quick summary:
MC
Adult-ish nice guy gets kidnapped to another world to fight for them, ofc he doesnt get mad, but asks them to send him back
...
at least. After that fails he gets OP very fast and very hard - max lvls, stats, hundreds of spells he doesnt know how to use, yet we never see him practice or sort them, until he knows exactly what to do by ep 3.
FMC
His companion is big chested, kind, openly interested and strong wolf girl. So ofc he gets scared when she wants to sleep in bed with him...cause they arent married. Yes, thats why...thankfully this naive guy is a pushover and gets convinced to "play family" with her. Its not very romantic, or relateble. Maybe it gets better, but I wont be there to see and you should neither if you value your time.
Others
There are 4 female knights as well right from ep 1. The MC has no issues showing his magic to them (sadly this isnt euphemism), and carry and trains them. All this w/o worrying about them telling the king, or anyone else there is this op guy, after the king clearly summoned him to fight for him. He doesnt even get mad when they all eavesdrop on him very openly after he invites another demon girl to tea party...albeit to the same house they live are at right in the fckin kitchen, talking about demon wife and bein OP *sigh*
