Story & Plot: 7/10
The story is arguably slow, the first few episode was amazing where the story developed, while in the middle it starts to falter and continue with what feels like fillers episode with minimal to no developement in the plot. some episode felt really dragged out. depsite all this the story that is trying to discover the theme of humanity in a setting where you are reincarnated as a monster is really refreshing, it strays far away from your normal undead isekai/fantasy show where they just dont bother addressing this part. i just hope if this has a chance for season 2 it ... will develope the plot a little bit more and maybe move the pacing up alittle bit.

World Building: 6/10
Not much to say about the world and settings. not much was revealed aside from your usual isekai/fantasy, but i can see glimpse of hope that it will be an interesting world.

Characters: 9/10
this is the main selling point for this anime, very rarely does your isekai disguised as fantasy have solid points on this one. the main character felt genuine and the kind of guy you would root for, he is the underdog who has given all of his effort to achieve his dreams, he is smart, kind and bad with women but despite all this he was limited by his human body. Finally after breaking his limitation of his human body, now he has the dilemma with his humanty, does being revived as a monster make him stop being a human. Does any of that matters now that he have the power to achieve his dreams.

moving on to the side characters, so far the side characters are very much solid too, some are pretty cliche but the chemistry the mc have with all the side characters are great.

Art: 6/10
The art are okay, there isnt too much to talk about. The quality did drop after a few episode but thats understandable from something that dont have much budget to start with.

Animation: 6/10
the animation it started with was good, but just like the art, the animation quality starts to drop with every new episodes.

Opening & Ending: 8/10
The ending really suits the overall theme of this shows, every time i hear the guitar intro it just soothe my souls and then the chorus kicks in and i ended up listening to the whole song. The opening is also very good, but it dont really capture me as much as the ending song.

Sound effect & Musical score: 5/10
Im not an expert when it comes to this, usually i dont pay much attention to musical score since they are usually too quite to listen to using a speaker. Sound effect & musical score has the ability to heighten up important moments and you can feel these stuff when it trully matters and i can say that at most time i couldnt feel the sound effect or the musical score.

Enjoyability: 7/10
Well despite the slow story this is quite enjoyable, mainly the interections between the characters are good enough to keep you watching. there isnt a lot of action so if you are the type who couldnt watch a video without subway surfer to keep your attention this is not for you. this is more of a human drama than your usually isekai power fantasy.

Nothing much to say, so I'll keep it short.
Being the bottom dwelling fantasy enjoyer that I am, I saw potential in the first few eps, the hook was great and it established the world and the plot pretty well, but it's just downhill from there.

The entire anime feels like multiple filler arcs stitched together. If you're here for some story and world building, you will probably be disappointed. The arcs feel weightless and disconnected, the MC is uninteresting and static, the world feels boring and shallow, despite so many locations and characters. I forgot this anime was airing at some point.

It's not a bad ... anime by any means, the MC is a down to earth, mature, chill dude, which is refreshing, and I think most of my issues with this anime can be fixed with a 2nd season. The animation is good, but the combat feels a bit bland, and the show has a chill vibe to it, but to me, its just not interesting, other than the base premise, it feels like every other uninspired fantasy flick. I'd say give it a try if you're into fantasy and have nothing better to watch.

I’ll keep this short:

The best part of the this show is the first four episodes. It’s actually pretty interesting, the art is well done, and there’s some creative concepts that haven’t really been touched by any other fantasy.

After that though, it becomes insanely boring and filler. You can’t have a show where the premise is based on a unique set of circumstances that the MC has to deal with then completely dissolve any tensions or plot elements around them by the fourth episode. Every single episode after this point becomes the most generic and more importantly boring Isekai slop.

Enjoy the first four or five episodes ... then drop this.

There is no better word to describe this anime than: Average.

After watching all its chapters, I wouldn't say that it has good things to highlight, but I can't say that it has bad things to point out either. The work fulfills the purpose of entertaining, but does not seek to go further or win your affection. The story points out the theme of "existential evolution" as a phenomenon to which we must pay attention, but after a few chapters even the anime itself forgets. He decides to skip evolution and instead focus on the protagonist's capabilities.

Rent Faina has no charisma at all. He has experience ... as an adventurer and that's it. You can hardly find anything that is interesting about his story, but you can't judge it either because it is such a normal story that it avoids being bad. No matter how much you try to search, the best number that suits you on a scale of 1 to 10 is a 5.

The only thing where the anime really stands out is with its ending, both the song and the visuals are beautiful. "Keep your fire burning" is a song that I will definitely miss hearing every week.

In conclusion, even if you have nothing to watch, I would hardly consider it an option. I feel you would be better off exploring other options. This anime is for when you are really bored and in the abyss of fantasy. If it doesn't stand out in the season, it won't stand out within the genre. Even so, if you decide to watch it, you may come to like it in some way or another, it's the magic of being average.

i think this anime had me in the first few episodes where it was a solid 7 out of 10 & then kinda dipped to 6 or 5.
However, i did like the ending - i thought it was pretty heartwarming & apt for...whatever all happened throughout all those 12 episodes.
Did i turn off my brain after 2 or 3 episodes to continue tolerating what happens? yes - there were enjoyable parts & the fact that everything was safe as plain bread was part of the reason why i needn't need brain power to watch this anime.
Will i watch if there's a 2nd ... season? - yeah, i wanna know what adventures Rentt goes into in his "new form" (spoiler free) & whether the story will be following the way it flows or will i be surprised?

i think it worth a casual watch & a passing glance if you're ok w killing some time watching smth casual. I do like RPG-style "isekai" stories - even though the unique thing about Unwanted Undead IS that it wasn't an MC-trasported-to-isekai but Isekai-based from the start.

This series had a great hook: seasoned adventurer Rentt runs into a dragon, loses his life, and comes back as a skeleton that retains his memories. He aims to recover his humanity, slowly improving his skills and strength as he evolves into more human-like undead, eventually exceeding even what he could do before dying.

What I hoped for from here was an opportunity to see how being undead affected his life and relationships, perhaps seeing a broad assortment of skills that were only available to those afflicted and watching him evolve further, having to harness even more abilities at greater cost to his humanity.

What we got ... wasn’t bad, but it was a bit of a letdown, since he just kind of tries (and largely succeeds) to recover his previous life with little of his undead nature impacting his life. He’s still pursuing becoming a mithril-class adventurer, this time with a greater chance of getting there since he has access to divinity, greater speed and strength, and a couple of other basic boons of being undead like poison resistance.

That’s all fine, but that’s all it is: fine. There’s surprisingly little edge to Rentt’s experience. Even when it feels like something bad is going to happen because he is undead, whether because of losing control of himself or having to reveal that he is undead, it just doesn’t end up mattering. Issues are resolved quickly or never become issues in the first place. At times, it feels like the series could have given Rentt any interchangeable source for his power boost and things would turn out basically the same. Even his identity, which initially seems like a substantial concern, doesn’t seem like an issue of much importance for long.

The rest of the story works well enough. Rentt’s afterlife as an adventurer occasionally has some interesting turns, particularly as he showcases his wealth of experience in the role. He does a lot of good for several people and it’s honestly pretty heart-warming in places. Rentt’s struggle with his undead afterlife at least reaches an interesting point by the end of the season, even if it feels like it spends a lot of the season not going anywhere special.

As for the characters, that’s more of a mixed bag. His relationship with Lorraine is interesting and their mutual trust really is on full display. There are a handful of minor characters who make themselves stand out a bit during their time on screen, but most don’t have much staying power and disappear from the story in short order. The show does give us little glimpses into what’s going on with them later, though it still feel like they’re largely left behind. Characters that are clearly meant to have more influence over the story get introduced, but have only gotten the barest of depth so far – I have little doubt they’ll return at some stage. I’m interested enough to see how they could develop, but the series is willing to take its time when it doesn’t need to (which, to be fair, does work in its favor on occasion), while granting scant little time to elements that could use more.

It does not help that even the main ambition of the MC – to become a mithril-class adventurer – comes from a clichéd backstory. I understand that motivations like these are cliché for a reason, as they generally help an audience connect with the character, but this fell flat, particularly when it was trying to evoke that empathy. I’m generally not the biggest fan of backstory a show where you know certain characters aren’t going to survive, but the choice to put it in the final episode just ended up souring the overall experience a little.

Overall, while I don't have any strong feelings against this one, it's hard to give it a full recommendation. For a series that started with the death of the MC, it has largely felt toothless ever since. If the series had more tangible stakes (e.g. if there were more consequences for his being undead or taking certain risks), I'd be able to recommend it wholeheartedly based on its other aspects, but it just doesn't stand out as is.

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer was our fantasy story this season that many people thought would be boring and uninteresting. However, that wasn't the case. Plot follow Rentt, an adventurer who gets eaten by a dragon and dies. However he wakes up as an undead in the form of a skeleton and he's somehow even stronger than he was as a human. Overtime, Rentt evolves into different types of monsters, ghouls, ghast, vampires, etc.

Why'd you give it a 6 then if you liked the idea behind the plot? Well, over the course of the series I was simply getting more and more bored with it, the ... first half is interesting. however when we get to the point where he's basically doing side quests and helping out random people, it gets kind of slow and boring. They even did the overused "girl needs to be sacrificed for our god" story in one episode.

Like most fantasies, the characters too are a bit one note. Rentt and Lorraine are probably the only two characters that feel unique in this world. everyone else feels like a typical fantasy anime character archetype. However, I really enjoyed the score for this show, the medieval style music is really good in this show. The animation is about what you'd expect from a one-off fantasy anime, not bad but not great either.

It's not a bad show by any means, it just felt pretty slow and boring in the middle, and even a bit towards the end. This is one of those shows I'll probably end up forgetting about.

This anime had a great premise, with the story itself being rather interesting. The main character had proper motivation and underwent mild development.

Unfortunately, after the first few episodes, the writing continuously worsened. Focusing on uninspired side characters and an exhaustingly slow plot, it seemed like Rentt (MC) was the only one in the series who was moving forward (Ironic, since he spent 10 years as an low ranking Adventurer).

With it's poor (very low budget) animation, it made the action scenes rather difficult to enjoy. Considering this is held within the Action and Fantasy genres, it was underwhelming to say the least.

Not a complete waste ... of time, you do grow to care for the main character's modest nature and root for his survival, but that's really all there is. It was left open for a sequel, but it's rather doubtful that this particular anime will continue past 12 episodes.

A halfway decent take on an RPG genre. At least there aren't many overdone hackneyed elements like yelling names of all the spells while casting them, or getting super flustered and having nosebleeds around attractive women. It does have a few tropes like a main character oblivious of the affections of a long time (hot) friend. Also the MC powered up a little too quickly in just a couple episodes and became an ultra competent adventurer for some reason as a low level monster after 20 years of a daily struggle to succeed as a human.

The story is decent enough for the first season ... but unless they rein it in going forward it could quickly devolve into tired OP MC cliches.

It starts out great, but devolves into a generic filler story within 4 episodes.

Plot
MC is a bronze rank adventurer, who hits his limitations and never improves despite training for more than a decade. One day, he finds a new area inside dungeon and comes across a dragon, loses consciousness and wakes up as a skeleton. He disguises himself in hood/armor and starts leveling up to become stronger while solving the mystery.

Review
Good:
1. the mystery is intriguing
2. MC's friend (a researcher) Lorraine is also really hot
3. MC stays with his Lorraine, so we get a few nice slice of life moments
...
Bad:
1. MC: His self-pity for himself is too much. First, MC never broke though his bronze rank despite his efforts. Second, he's now a monster. He keeps whining about these two things a lot and it gets tiring after the 10th time.
2. After setting up the mystery, the show jumps into generic filler garbage.

I can't stress this enough. You may be hooked in the first 2 episodes due to mystery, but the rest of the show is spent on the most generic and random filler content. Only towards the last two episodes do we focus on the core plot again. Its some of the most blatant padding I have ever seen.

Overall, this is a show with great potential, ruined by its filler content. If you decide to watch it, I recommend just skipping a lot of middle episodes to save time. Its still watchable, if you keep your expectations low.

Unwanted Undead Adventurer is another fantasy adaptation that doesn't have an obnoxiously long name and dwells around the familiar aspects of many light novel adaptations. It's neither something where the anime is a pile of garbage that should never be made nor the adaptation that deserves some form of applause. What this anime has managed to achieve is the mere average of what you should expect in your weekly seasonal anime. The anime plays it safe with your dose of fanservice, and decent character growth. By that, I mean flaunting the main character's only personality with any random character the anime decides to show for ... the sake of the plot, etc. This is my review of UUD.

First and foremost, the Good:

It starts with a very familiar plot point that usually happens in Isekai fantasies, the Reincarnation aspect. The primary plot of the story is about a goody-two-shoes guy who wanted to claim his spot at the top for his contributions to the fantasy guild, only, in no surprise, met his doom and reincarnated into an undead, just as the title foretold us. As the Reincarnation plot was being unfolded, it was by far the best part of the anime. It's always intriguing to see a character gathering more strength and starting from rock bottom to something stronger, like a rogue-like RPG. Unlike most light novels that have no issue of bestowing ludicrous cheat skills and proceed to have the main character not abuse any of his skills other than daily basic life duties (believe me, I get frustrated when shit like this happens), it's good that none of that happens here and you're watching the efforts of the main character flourish itself during crucial fights that happen in the anime.

The music, especially the ED of this anime took me by surprise since it's not a song you'd expect in one of these shows. Even if it's almost unfitting to find a good song in a somewhat niche category, we have to give it credit for what's worth and it helps maintain retention throughout the series.

Then, the Bad:

A lot of my interest started to wane due to its downtime, its ebb and flow of the story is so slow that you might groan when something has to happen, but by far, my highest criticism is when it comes to its characters. I'd say that the anime's weakest point is that it has a very dull cast of characters, the only time where you see some color in these characters are the ones that end up being fascinated by the MC's good Samaritan charm or mysterious characters that are meant to act as the plot devices when nothing notable happens. Due to the narrative being centered around the main character only, it leads to most of these characters being nothing more than flavor text or 1st-dimensional characters that just interact when the main character gets close enough. Everyone treats the MC like he's the ultimate good.

The anime's quality in terms of storytelling takes a drop once the rogue aspect of the story gets sidetracked for some side-quest character growth that is supposed to shed light on the main character's personality, though the way it executes them is nowhere impactful as it doesn't provide new information about the main character, rather affirm that he's still human in his heart when the anime does not need to show it blatantly. It's where I would say the anime had a good first impression until it started to make up characters that are meant to take up time just so the story can still figure out ways how to make the character gradually stronger to a point where it becomes satisfactory.

To conclude, there's not much to talk about the anime, which can summarize for a forgettable experience. Once the anime has finished its time, it's going to be on the shelves, something you can easily label as an "anime with an above-average Main Character". You can try it out if you want an anime that takes its shot with leveling up elements that are present, or the barely passable fanservice, which is meant to rake in more views. If it's neither, then you can bet that the anime is not something worth remembering.

The premise is good, but the execution here is disappointing. An adventurer becomes an undead monster and has to figure out how to adapt. Nice idea, and lots of potential for interesting moments and development, but the show does little with it. The main character has no personality, and is painfully boring. Typical "clueless MC" type hero. The side characters are not any more interesting or with much more personality. MC is seemingly unaffected by his condition, going about his same life as before, except with more clothes to cover his body, and more strength to do his adventurer tasks.

Not recommended unless you want a ... very plain show to watch to balance out something else more stimulating.
