Preliminary (7/12 eps)
This story could have had some potential, but unfortunately each episode feels a bit random. But mostly the animation was what ultimately had me drop this anime. The characters were done so bad, staring in directions which don't line up with where the conversation or focus should be. The characters are placed in such strange places where it doesn't feel like they are engaged or part of a conversation, yet they talk as if they are which takes the immersion away. The movements were so terrible, that one wonders whether this is a mix between Visual Novel game style and anime movement. Movement/advances that don't make sense which takes the depth perception away because it doesn't line up. The monsters/demons didn't have any fear factor. Some, like the dragon, looks like it should be a pet rather than a scary boss level monster. Once again movement takes away from how intense a battle could have been and even sword battles feels like how we played sword fighting as kids with sticks (that may have even been more realistic than this). No real intensity at all. If an example needs to be provided, I would say episode 7 since that is where I ultimately stopped. In one scene, they sit on chairs in circle formation. The main character is talking to the character to his left with the back of his chair towards us, yet his eyes are staring directly into the "camera"/us and not giving the appearance of looking at the character he is talking to. 3/10
