Honestly, I rewatched this with a friend, and it's even better than I remembered.

The art style is gorgeous, as to be expected by Madhouse. The sound design is amazing, each song and sound effect beautifully encapsulate the mood, the gravity of the situation, and the feelings of the characters. The story it tells is beautiful and they don't hold back or skim over important details. There's not a single boring episode that made my ADHD kick in; I didn't want to look away for a second. The characters are well enough flushed out and very relatable, each of them having their own individual tales to tell.

It's well stated (so not a spoiler) that this story is about Frieren as she comes to terms with the mortality of short life races, and she picks up friends along her way. It's a truly sweet story about living life and cherishing the people who live it with you, no matter for how short a time.
