The show's pretty rock solid. It sorta gives off "We have Frieren at home" vibes. It's a degree of quality higher than the typical seasonal production, and each episode is good. It's a traditional adventure story rather than an action or comedy, with the character growing over time. He's very likable and it's easy to care about his progress and goals. There is an actual story being told, which is more than welcome in the realm of crystallized isekai worlds. Additionally, it feels like the characters were written for adults. They behave maturely and don't act like complete morons, which is a breath of fresh air.
My biggest complaint would be that we don't feel the consequences of his undead nature severely enough. Despite the excellent premise, you can get a few minutes into an episode and forget that he is an abomination. As soon as a problem is faced it gets trivialized almost immediately. It would have made the narrative about his nature more effective if they more deeply showed the struggles of being undead. The action scenes also felt a little lifeless. If the show's focus was action, I would take this complaint into more serious consideration. Either way, don't expect too much blood pumping excitement.
Overall the show feels like listening to sports on the radio out of your back porch on a sunny day. It is really comforting and relaxing, to the point some people might find get bored. If you enjoy slower paced shows and watch anime to relax, I highly recommend it.
