Surprisingly, there is. This anime actually has a story: a bizarre encounter of a seemingly high-profile and well-mannered student with a seemingly female high schooler with deer antlers. Then the story goes from there. We learn that she is a delinquent, a tsundere, and a virgin—a tsundere virgin. This tsundere virgin has a crazy sister who loves her too much. There are a few sprinkles of shoujo ai spices in here, but not much—too little even. Then this anime shows you that all of that is just a side plot because the main plot is and will always be DEER.

The animation is awesome. The character design is cute, charming, and pretty. Sometimes the animation looks like the budget jumped from "yeah, just some standard CGDCT animation" to "holy shit, how much does that cost?" Overall, very good animation—very fluid. Also, this anime has one of the best blood splatters I've ever seen so far this season, despite the fact that it's not really necessary. So, good animation, above average.
Then, there's the deer. They seem so out of place. They look like they don't even belong in this anime, but again, it's definitely made on purpose because they're trying to make the deer seems like a sentient natural forces spying on the MC's life like a watchful god.

The song is bopping. The ED song is very catchy, and adding a deer cracker-making video in the background just adds extra deer-iness to the show.

And the OP song is catchy, too catchy even. So catchy that it still plays even when I’ve already turned it off. Sometimes it appears in my dreams. Sometimes it haunts me in my nightmares. Sometimes it just digs its way into my head, making me sing it without my consent. Sometimes I bang my head to stop it, but the voices keep getting louder and louder. But overall, it's a very catchy and enjoyable song.

This show is the Deer-est deer anime that ever deer-ed, and giving it a 10 is merely a fraction of my thankfulness to the deer god for blessing me with this peak cinema.

I think too many people watch anime expecting some revolutionary story writing, incredible ... character development and state-of-the-art animation. But to me, while I do enjoy those things, sometimes watching anime is really just about having fun. That is what shikanoko nokonoko koshitantan is about. Just fun. It's a fun anime to watch. It's not supposed to show you an engaging story. It's not trying to be the most philosophical and emotional anime out there. It's not made to one-up all the best reviewed anime ever made. No. It's for people looking to have fun with dry humour, over-the-top characters and voice acting. And to me, sometimes, that's all it takes to make an excellent anime.

I honestly could post the review like this, and that'd be the end of it, because man, after watching this, you may think of what you just watched, or think this is the funniest shit ever. I feel like I'm watching Nichijou, or Kill me Baby.

Story and characters: 8
OK so. You know typical characters right? Yeah? Well. Throw that shit out the window, and far away as the eye can see. While the story does advance per episode, it's not random for the sake of it. But you take these characters, and basically crank them up them by a 100. A 1000. The works. As if you put their personalities on max, all for the best comedic effect possible. There isn't a dull moment within it's story, or it's characters, which only makes for an entertaining product from start to finish.

To touch into it's story more, as yes it does have one. But you get the feeling the story is more the side piece, as if the world doesn't revolve around everyone, it revolves around the main cast, and anyone associated with them. Which is more shown how everything doesn't seem out of place, or not normal to the general mass of NPCs. It's as if nothing is wrong, and and they're here for the fun and silly ride. While the main cast's antics takes center stage. Which only provides more fun comedic exciting moments.

Art and sound: 8
God. I can't help but laugh in this regard, given not only the fun and vibrant way it's animated. But how they showcase deers throughout the show itself. It's a wild ride honestly. Like from both the art side, and the sound side, I can almost feel the Directors, and everyone who worked on it, laughing and joking behind the scenes as it's playing, because of how weird and wacky it all is. Not to mention a dance that has become rather memorable for all the meme reasons. Great work all round.

As for is it watchable? Hm. Needs more deer lol. But yes, it's very watchable and enjoyable.

Back in 2018, there was this one show with gag humor, which seemed really random and was filled with references. It was called Pop Team Epic. The show was very confusing, it’s episodes were 10 minutes but they actually redubbed each episode so it was actually 20 minutes, sometimes it would make random references but forget the punchline, sometimes characters would swear at the viewers for calling it unfunny. But all in all, what was interesting about it is that it was the first brainrot type anime. In order to enjoy it, you had to take your brain out, bury it into the ground, blow ... it up with dynamites and cast what’s left of it deep into the ocean. But thankfully, Shikanoko is a deer type anime so you don’t actually need the dynamites. What’s the difference, you might ask. The difference is, deer type anime is actually kind of funny.

Shikanoko is basically avsgsbsbs. If you don’t know what that means that’s ok, that’s how it feels like watching this show. Each episode is insanely random, and you just don’t know what dumbass thing is gonna happen next. At one scene two girls are fighting each other for the blonde chick, and in the next they are exposing her secrets in a tournament. And the references, oh deer. We have the Demon Souls reference in the opening, we have the Tokyo Vengeance reference or something, the funny dance from the Spiderman 3 and so on. They will pull up some Bubsy 3d reference next time and I won’t even be surprised.

One thing people keep bringing up are the Nichijou comparisons but I think that’s just not really fair as these two shows similarities are only on the surface level. Nichijou has absurd gags sure but at it’s core it’s still a slice of life show, so there is still some level of realism, consistency and relatability to it; whereas in Shikanoko it’s just writers coming up with the funniest or the most absurd things without caring about whether that fits the characters or setting. I can see why people might enjoy one more than the other but ultimately both are different shows trying to achieve different things.

So far each episode had at least like one or two jokes that made me laugh out loud, but when they don't hit it feels like the show is just way too slow. I feel like it could have benefitted from some Saiki-like speed to make it more engaging.

Anyway, overall it has been fun despite some of my problems with it. I give this show a 7/10, maybe they should consider adding donkeys instead.

Jokes, no funny at all. Boring, but brainrot. And that made me "laugh", so hard.

I laughed because of how brainrot this story is, and who's ever created it (Oshioshio), absolutely a legend. A LEGEND OF EXTREME BRAINROT.

Characters, they all trash. A yankee girl who's hidden in the "good girl" identity, a shika girl with weird shikas follows her, a girl who obsesses with shika girl and rice (why rice? well maybe i'm overthinking it but for me personally that's a good "coincidence" joke), and finally, a yandere girl who obsessed with her sister who is a "tiger" ... (tora) or yankee girl. All of the characters are made to the EXTREME BRAINROT and THE MOST STUPID OF ALL THE STUPID characters ever created in the universe (they are designed to be stupid, because pay attention to the "shika" (deer) and "baka" (stupid), we have the "ka" which is not homonym, it really means "deer", and not because "deer" is a homonym of "dear", that's coincidence). As you can see, every single jokes, every single layers of "nonsense humor" and specially, the extra layer of brainrot events, first slow-mo animation, "shika shika" when something "shocking happened", unique and dumb protagonist with a normal-but-not-so-normal protagonist, crazy supporting characters made the world of Oshioshio even "weirder", but somehow made it "normalized" and Torako and us - suddenly became the "weirdos" one, (also huge credit for the best narrative ever and his nonsense mindset). It's dumb, but it's clueless. It's boring, but it's weird. It's bad, but it's unique. A fight between tigers and deers, with the battlefield of Hino Minami High School and Deer's Club, the dead place is Nara Park, in the world which deers are basically everywhere, heck, even SSN (Shika Shika Network) exists! That's how brainrot this story is, and believe me, once you watch it, you need to make yourself dumb, then enjoy probably the dumbest and most trash anime of all time, and it was worth it.

Art, nah Wit just cooked it! Complete and absolute brainrot the content, now come with the most iconic "dude seriously 10-HOUR LOOP FOR THE "SHIKANOKO NOKONOKO KOSHITANTAN" for a random dancing girl!!????" and the shikairo OP wth the EP looks like a commercial for the Nara and the Deer's Crackers. Nah seriously HOW BRAINROT CAN THIS SERIES BE?????? Not gonna lie, I think one of the attributes making this anime sooooooooooooooooooo brainrot is not only the songs, but the art and soundtracks, especially the slow-mo and "shikaaa SHIKAAAA" sounds, also recently they made a song for the shika girl too. SERIOUSLY WTF?

Ok maybe I made it too emotional, but to summarize, this is THE CLASSIC MASTERPIECE OF COMPLETELY BRAINROT. When watching it, you are surely, a dumbass. You are lost, and after watching this, you'll realize that this is worthless at the first start, but the story of it show you how brainrot can human brain be. Probably the dumbest anime that I have ever seen, but to be honest, this story achieves its goal - to become one of the dumbest animes of all time.

Worth it, after all? Yes, really. Especially if someday you don't wanna be a smart-mature guy or something.

Enjoyed? Absolutely! Feel like you re-become a caveman and isekai to this modern world.

Recommended? Yes, especially for shika addictors.

For the last words, let me say it again: Trash, boring, weird, yes, but that's the reason why this anime is the most unique anime of this Summer 2024 season. And it has succeeded to become the dumbest anime that me, and maybe you, have ever watched. Crazy, but after all, it's a good anime.

If I could describe "My Deer Friend Nokotan" in a few words, it would be very joyful, very fun, VERY chaotic, and overall, a very good time.

The characters themselves are also really funny and enjoyable to watch, with each of their wacky interactions showing us that although our main lead Nokotan is a human-deer hybrid meant to be the anomaly of the show, she is in fact a character that fits in perfectly with the world around her, while her friend Koshitan, who is the most level headed and sensical, is left as the oddman out in a very comical way.

The series isn't anything ... ground breaking given what we've seen before, with series such as "Nichijou", "Azumaga Daioh", and "Plastic Nee-san" just to name a few, having left a well established mark for this type of comedy setting. That being said, it fills the shoes of its predecessors quite well, and certaintly deserves to be added to a watchlist if you are ever looking for an Anime that you just like to turn your brain off to and enjoy.

To sum it up, "My Deer Friend Nokotan" is a blast. A show that embraces its Lunacy, spreads it everywhere, and makes sure to not leave room to process the pandemonium it brings every time you watch it. Its been awesome so far, and one can only hope it remains that way as it goes on.

This anime has the most unnecessary and wonderful comedy I have ever watched. There are a lot of references and memes. Spiderman's dance, Tokyo Revengers, Naruto, Jojo reference and probably many more things I'm forgetting. Don't think about the anime, just watch it. It's a perfect anime for someone who is tired of classic and empty anime, and besides, I only watched three episodes and it's that great. Well, that's hilarious.

"My Deer Friend Nokotan" is awesome in its own way.

The idea is realized very well, and the anime is just as it should be. It's funny, ridiculous, entertaining, and kinda cringe. So I'm really enjoying it even though I'm not a huge fan of the school setting.

I really liked the first episode, it was great, and I was really get into it. It went well from there, didn't drop much. We'll see how it goes from here. The hype is understandable, and you can tell the creators are getting what they wanted the anime ... to be: intentionally absurd, funny, entertaining and drawing viewer into it. The graphics are good, it's Wit Studio, if you ignore the 3d deer, which must have been made so bad on purpose, or I don't know. And of course our dear deer Nokotan, she's so sweet and cute, well, how can she not be liked.

So, you can't demand from this anime what it didn't claim to do, and what it does claim to do, it does very nice so far.

Up to now my rating is 8 out of 10, love it, let's see how it goes from here.

Alright. By the looks of it, I can see how the anime is going to go on from here. The start was really good, and it's not bad now. Anyway, it's still fun.

I'm seeing some hate, which I can't agree with, based on the first 3 episodes, which were really good. Now it seems to be starting to drop a little bit.

I discovered "Shikanoko Noko Koshitantan" well before its release, thanks to a clever marketing strategy. The team behind the anime used an effective earworm strategy, repeatedly leaking snippets of the show's theme song to build anticipation

As the anime premiered, I eagerly began watching. The first episode introduces us to the daily life of our main character, Koshi Torako. A model student in high school, Koshitan was a notorious delinquent during his middle school years. Now, she's known for his exceptional academic and athletic skills

In the initial episode, we meet Shikanoko, a new transfer student with antlers reminiscent of a deer—a feature that is traditionally associated ... with males, making it even more perplexing. Even Koshi is bewildered by Shikanoko's antlers

Shikanoko ends up in the same class as Koshitan, setting the stage for their interactions. While the comedy in the first episode didn't quite hit the mark, episodes two and three showed some improvement in humor and comedic elements

Characters are gradually introduced in the first three episodes, who will accompany Koshi in his school life. Koshi's younger sister, Koshi Anko, makes her appearance in the second episode. She has a "sister complex," leading to minor conflicts between Shiro Anko and Shikanoko over Koshitan in the latter part of episode two

Comparing it to "Nichijou," I find "Nichijou" superior in execution. However, this does not mean "Shikanoko Noko Koshitantan" is bad. It just has some elements that might make viewers uncomfortable, such as Shiro Anko's affection for her Sister.

In summary, while "Shikanoko Noko Koshitantan" has its unique charms and moments, it might not be for everyone due to its quirky and sometimes uncomfortable themes. Nonetheless, it shows promise and may improve as the series progresses.
