Both have similar premises but with different approaches. If you want something more comedic, go for Mashle. If you prefer a story that carries itself more seriously, choose Wistoria. Wisteria is a 6.5/10 story with a 10/10 production value (animation, choreography, storytelling, BGM, etc.). I'd rather watch something with a cliché premise executed perfectly than something new that falls apart because the director doesn't know where to take the story. Enjoy!

School setting. Magic academy. Somehow swords are important despite the magical setting. The plot entirely revolves around a promise MC's has made to a woman. Labyrinth/Dungeon is a mysterious place where a lot of stuff happens. In the first few episodes we see teachers with disdain for MC. Also there's a rivalry with a smug pompous jerk guy who is quickly put in his place. Teachers are hiding something. MC has a singular goal on his mind.

- Written by the same author - Both have the kind, sweet, underdog MC (he's kinda cute ngl) - Dungeon system, minotaur fight, several love interests - OP main heroine

The protagonists made the promise with their childhood best friend to be the best in their occupation (Wistoria: Magia Vander. Kaiju no8: commander of the defense force). They grow up and only the friend did it and the protagonists make their best to be by their side.

Similar magic school ambience. Side/supporting characters having very similar interests. Good hearted protagonist, sometimes, lacking confidence in their own abilities.

Although this anime is in a completely different setting of "Science Fantasy", the main action also takes place in the Academy of magic. The main character does not have magical abilities, but has unique (including physical) skills that make him stronger than all magicians. From the very beginning, there are many detractors among other students, but over time the main character finds loyal friends.

Both series are about a boy who's unable to use magic in a world where magic is everything, so he goes to the magic school by focusing on the use of his sword mastery, which allows him to match and even surpass magic users with his sheer skill.
