I am not sure if your aware of this site, but my goodness has been a god send to me. So I want to share it with you in case you never seen it before.

https://chiaki.site/?/tools/watch_order

It organizes everything in a very easy to read list by release order, but its also sychronized with MAL data so it stays up to date at all times. You can also check to see the relationships of certain series, if its sequal, major canon story, prequel, spin off, ect. Really useful.

Can you explain to me your descisions in your watch order route for the Leiji Matsumoto Verse. I am currently making my way through it. I think Yamato it self can be set apart as its own franchise and timeline, so i treated it seperately to the Harlock/GE 999 and Mateal verse which seems to all run together as one larger continuety.

Personally I See Blue Submarine 99, Gun Frontier and Danguard ace as there own individual series disconnected from leiji's wider universe so i opted to instead watch these first according to the manga release dates. I think this is a decent descision.

Now where the confusion comes from is the watch Order for the harlock verse that is tied to many subsequent prequels, spin offs, sequals, even certain ova's that bridge the gap between two seasons.

I am usually a pretty big proponent of full production order, but in some cases it just doesn't provide me the best experience. So with that being said, im considering my watch order to be the Major early Tv series first with Space Captain Harlock > Galaxy Express 999 > Queen Millenia. After finishing those 3 early works and gaining a larger familiarity for leiji's world building stories, themes and idea's, then ill go back into each one and watch the spin offs, sequels, ect. Such as the GE express films ending with eternal fantasy, Maetel Legend which links Queen Millenia to GE express 999, and then Space Symphony Maetel Tv and Arcadia of my youth, finally ending the big run with Galaxy Railways. I think with that order, i can experience the story in the most organized fashion but also stick to watching things that are relevant together and follow the continuity more accurately.

How I don't have context or perspective that you have considering you watched it all, im a new viewer to the universe, aside from Yamato which I actually already finished so if you think this order is not correct, then by all means provide me any input and what you think I should go with.

It’s time to ditch the text file.
